Money= politics. And this move is all about politics. Kobe doesn't want to leave LA he wants to protect his interests. Before, Jerry Buss was protecting his interets. He was making revenue and looking to build a team that would make him the most money over the long term. (Don't beleive for a second that the two parties involved have the same interests, they don't.) Kobe is just protecting his interests (i.e, money, championship, honor). Kobe has power and he flexed his muscles. He is challanging the organization to mold themselves to his interests. They have a choice to make. Either comply with Kobe and spend more money, but win championships now; or get rid of Kobe and build a new team and save some money and win later. Either way I respect Kobe for protecting his interests and actually giving a shit about being competitive now. Good work!

What ever happen to Getting Garnett?? Ain't that what we all really wanted? If Kobe keeps up his antics, Magic, Buss, Phil, Kareem, and Lakers Co. will end up shipping him to the ATL where the players play but don't win anything. In return we'll be able to get a whole bunch of new badass players.

But for now, as it seems that Kobe is cooling off, let's make sure we can get our little "Jordan" his "Scottie Pippen" in a Kevin Garnett or a Jermaine O'Neal, or someone alike. Kobe's lookin like Jordan in the 80's, a show all to himself keeping our game tickets high and our hopes low.

I still smell a draft pick trade for Greg Oden (a center predicted to QUICKLY be up there with Russell, Abdul Jabbar, and Shaq). Lakers never won a championship without a Hall-of-Fame center. And just like Shaq diss'ed all the ca$h money and fame from the Magic to be with the Lakers, we need loyalty. That's some Laker real sh*t that turns into championships.
I made I read this wrong...But you aren't seriously comparing Kobe to Jordan are you? Agreed Kobe is the greatest in the league right now. But he isn't anywhere close to being Michael Jordan.
But yeah, Portland has some really good players and the 1st pick. I think that would be a good trade.
I do compare Kobe to Jordan, definitely. The two of them have the same scoring and athletic output and prowess. Some say Kobe is a bit better defensively, and I can agree, so that definitely makes him comparable. Jordan though has 6 NBA titles and MVPs. Kobe just half of the first. The difference is that Jordan knew how to sneak up on a team and beat them with his own game MUCH more often than Kobe. Jordan was very PATIENT. But both fools with the ball are as good and scary as it gets, drawing no less than double-teams in every play.

Jordan more swift and air. Kobe more muscle and contact. Same score.

Keep in mind, Jordan has always claimed he was never the best. He believes he can't be since he never got a chance to consistently play in serious competition against the Magic's and Bird's. Those two fools knew how to win championships and collect their MVP's.
