Mihm is looking for an MLE deal. Lakers reportedly after Blake. One thing is for sure, Mihm has been at every Lakers game practically supporting this team since his injury. Hopefully the Lakers can work something out for both parties to be happy.
Press Enterprise: The Lakers hope they can re-sign center Chris Mihm and a veteran guard.
Mihm’s agent, Jeff Austin, told the Lakers his client is looking for the mid-level exception of $5.5 million.
The Lakers think that is too much to pay for Mihm, who missed all of last season recovering from right ankle surgery and still was paid his $4.2 million salary.

i would sign chris webber for vets min…he averaged 11 ppg and 4 assist and 6 rebounds for pistons…and hes perfect for the triangle plus he always praises kobe so he obiviously likes him

If we didn’t have 15 signed players, we could have used the vet minimum last year, but we already had 15 signed players. This is one reason why the lakers will only have 14 players signed this year in the event they can bring someone else late in the year. So last year, vet minimum was not applicable due to 15 signed players or players under contract. This year we could use the vet minimum early or later in the year.

5.5M is overpaying for Mihm. He hasn’t even played in a year. He will be hard pressed to find any team that will be willing to pay him that amount. 2-3M is a little more realistic.

You have to wait 60 days after you sign a player before you can trade him. I think thats 60 days after after the start of the season, not 60 days after you can sign players which is July 11th. I think that makes DEC 15th the earliest day he could be traded. Plus I think only about 50% of his contract can be used to match salaries because of some overly complicated rule.
Besides that signing a player just to ship him out is not very fair to the player. Signing a player to come play in LA then trading him elsewhere is like hiring someone to your office in Hawaii and then shipping him to Siberia. I’d be pretty damn pissed.
