KG to Boston. ‘Nuff said. Has the “pipe” has officially broken?
Star Tribune: Kevin Garnett’s long tenure with the Timberwolves appears to be over.
The Boston Celtics were close to completing a deal for the Timberwolves’ All-Star forward this afternoon. The Associated Press quoted an unnamed Celtics official saying a deal was imminent, but not yet complete. The AP also said a conference call announcing the deal might come later today.
Garnett is due $23 million next season and would get a 15 percent raise if he is traded, so both sides would have to work to match contracts. Garnett has been with the Wolves for 12 seasons, the longest current span that one NBA player has with his team.
The trade is likely to send forward Al Jefferson, swingman Gerald Green, point guard Sebastian Telfair, center Theo Ratliff and at least one high draft pick to Minnesota
—–
The Herald also reported the Celtics and Garnett, 31, have reached an agreement in principle on a contract extension. It appears Garnett is willing to forego the opt-out in his current deal for next summer and cast his lot with Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and the Celtics.
TwinCities: Ainge - No Garnett deal yet

Garnett to Boston quite not dead yet?
Jim Gray reports Garnett to L.A. is dead - Phx/Bos/Minny 3 way alive
Wolves-Celtics trade talk? Garnett says forget it!

This is what happens when you guys relatively believe KG was always gonnna be a Laker.
you know why Boston is getting KG? because they never wanted to part with Al Jefferson in the first place while we would give up the farm. this site should have been GetJermaine all along…. don’t tell me it’s gonna be GetTimduncan next… you guys are a complete mess.
come on guys cheer up we still got kwame :D
i hope thats a joke.

i agree…now lets get Artest!
Silo…. it’s more… like…
KG WAS NEVER GONNA BE HERE
Homers always wanted to believe he would
La la la la la la
now we got screwed.
KG to Lakers was dying out at least 2-3 weeks ago. so im really not surprised. logically, lakers wouldve been the right team for him. but i guess the owners just wanted to keep it a celtic thing. i seriously do not think boston is gonna become some kind of a threat over there at the east. so with that said, back to the drawing board for LA, move on, and make stuff happen. KG…good luck, but too bad. you couldve had it all here in Hollywood.
kg can suck my dick
and he won’t win any championchip with the celtics

cause white boy cant rhyme
no no no no no no no no no no no did i say nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
If you are a laker fan in boston, go ruin his welcome.
He is gonna get booed like hell in LA this season.
I wasn’t trying to rhyme but if you have a minute
for me to shine than i guess i can tell you that
KG is a Boston Celtic. now show me a time were i can’t rhyme…
KG was never gonna be here but delusions always wanted to be high.
I blame a lot of people for this happening. I blame Mitch Kupchak and Kevin McHale. I also blame Fatty and Cyrus for not trying hard enough. I’ll also blame Fred A. for putting up lame posts.
In all seriousness, we tried, it didn’t happen. The best thing we can hope for is that he doesn’t sign an extension with the Celtics, and opts out at the end of the year, and comes to us then. So, looks like we’ll be doing this again next summer.
I look forward to removing KG from the top banner as soon as he hold up a Celtics jersey.
Lil K…while you are forgetting about KG, forget about Artest while you’re at it. Sacramento isn’t going to trade him within the division, let alone the Western Conference. Sacramento isn’t going to take the crap off the Laker roster….realize that the only guys with any value are Odom and Bynum (and Kobe!?!)
Get Artest for Kwame and Farmer….heck, why don’t you suggest that Portland trade Greg Oden to the Lakers for those guys….or Seattle trade Durant for them. Maybe Phoenix will take Farmar and Kwame for Steve Nash and Amare Stoudamire.
i knew he wasnt gonna come to LA. but im not upset bc i wouldve been crying if he went to phoenix. but hes in boston now, and i care less bc boston is a terrible team…
and the only way we can get kg next year if he opts out is if the lakers do well this upcoming season. we need to show him we got the guns, and i believe we do.
I look forward to removing KG from the top banner as soon as he hold up a Celtics jersey.
put up Artest and Jermaine as plan B
You know what. i wonder what that RC jerk would have to say.
I give this negative 5 RC stars.lol
I look forward to removing KG from the top banner as soon as he hold up a Celtics jersey.
can we burn it?
please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
how sad, I really had hope that a miracle would happen and KG would land here. you can’t really blame Mitch. He’s just a puppet taking orders from 3 different bosses so he really can’t do much anyways. he’s in a damned if you do damned if you dont situation.
I guess all we have to look forward to now is seeing how well our pick develops and hoping bynum comes back bulked up and ready.

yeah really. lets face it, we are not gonna trade LO and Bynum for JO.
I hope kareem taught Bynum that famous sky hook cause we are gonna need a crane to hold us this team.
Lakers suck!!!!!!!!!!
The Legion of Frustrated Old Losers.
Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and now KG
“Mc.Hell” has controlled KG’s BBL life from day one and now he dictates where KG must go. It’s just so hard to believe how weak KG is. I just have a hard time to believe KG is letting MC.Hell throwing him around like a piece of meat. Maybe it’s good that we didn’t get KG.
Finally, Kevin Garnett is showing his real face; A weakling who let “Mc.Hell” do with him whatever he wants. KG was drafted in 1995 by Boston. For 12 years he’s been trying to win, he has the skills but he lacks the determination and mental force. I truly don’t see KG getting anywhere with the Celtics. He has decided to play with couple of players who have won nothing important in their entire career:
The 32 years old Ray Allen, except some 3 point shooting contest, has not seen any awards.
The 30 years old Paul pierce, except All-NBA Third Team 2002-03, has been only dreaming of any noticeable award.
Kevin Garnett, 31: After 12 years with Wolves, has also no record of success. He made it to conference finals in 03 to get eliminated by the Lakers. He played in allstar games many times and was MVP once but never advanced beyond that.
KG passed on the best opportunity of his life, to play under the shadow of the greatest player on the planet, Kobe Bryant. It’s so unfortunate to see KG throwing his career in the toilette in going to Boston, playing with 2 other losers who have absolutely no record of achievement.
This is the true face KG, Great player without ambitions and determinations to win, joining the legion of “old” frustrated loser.
Cyrus i agree KG is a loser, but a great player.
No, Lakers don’t suck, KG sucks being a weakling….
how is Al Jefferson,Sebastian Telfair,Gerald Green and Theo Ratliff
better than Lamar,Bynum,Farmar, Kwame??? Minny is getting screwed!!!
how is Al Jefferson,Sebastian Telfair,Gerald Green and Theo Ratliff

not really. mini now has a great young team to build on. a team built for the future IF its done RIGHT!
They wanted young talent to build on and they got it.
what does it take? kobe to score 82 points on the celtics? good god how hard was it to choose….
lakers or celtics. wow. a kid with a mental disorder couldve made that decision.
joking aside. whatever. if we couldnt get him, im glad he went to a sh*t team.
That was pretty harsh Cyrus, but you can make an argument that those guys never had an opportunity like this. Pierce only had walker, ray allen who the hell knows, and KG went far with sprewell and alien head. In my opinion, Boston screwed their future up and KG is taking a huge chance. How these guys will fill up their roster is beyond me, one injury and you can kiss them goodbye.
Boston is having the offseason the Lakers needed.

THEY ARE GONNA EAT YOU ALIVE.

EXACTLY
dark ice….I’ll offer one way the Boston players are better…every one of the players coming to Minnesota has one year remaining on their contracts. $19 million in contracts goes away after next season. Yeah, they might suck this year. But to get contracts off the cap…..priceless!

really man. and did you forget the big free agent next season. GILBERT ARENAS!
hey guys, you have to admit we had a great time pulling for this trade. I for one am proud of this and all of you for the great debate we had on KG. This site is dedicated to improving the Lakers and they do a DAMN FINE JOB OF IT!!!!
GO LAKERS!!!!
but Lamar alone is better than Al Jefferson. Bynum is a future Center…Farmar is a good potential Guard that plays hard…and kwame has 9 million coming off..thats better to me…but oh well we still got a pretty good team if no injuries occur…jus hope we can somehow get Artest w/o trading Kobe/LO/Bynum
Al > Bynum
Gerald/Theo’s huge expiring > Odom
Let it go Homers.
Silo…..there will be more than Arenas out there. And they don’t have to spend it all next season….they can save it up for two years from now when there will be all kinds of guys eligible for free agency.
Laker fans kinda forget how Jerry West got Shaq….he skillfully got under the cap to pursue the player he wanted…..and signed…and the rest is history.

very true but gilbert is the only big star free agent next season. at least with all star caliber and the ability to hold a team.
If Green is smart though, he will get the hell out of there next season.
Players like Amare, lebron, carmelo are tied up for a long time.
We hope to keep this community of Lakers fans strong.
On a side note… I just heard on ClubLakers.com that ESPN is reporting KG says no to Boston trade?

WHAT!? PLEASE KG, SAY NO TO CLOVER.
SAY YES TO THE PURPLE AND GOLD.
Well, if you thought it would be tough to get KG, ya think Sacto wants to deal Artest to the Lakers? Fat chance.
This site was more than a garnett site, so it’s cool to keep around. How about GETBETTER.com, then you can post all the chatter and rumors while the fans wait for the team to get better.
As for all of this talk, I say we do stay under the cap. Screw what kobe says, if the man is not all the way for the lakers, then so be it. If we stay under the cap we can get better help (post kwame) and if kobe leaves we can sign more talent too (arenas!). We’ll see.
WOW!
I don’t know what to say.
Hopefully Garnett doesn’t sign an extension? (What are the chances that he doesn’t).
We HAVE to get JO. I hope the Celts SUCK this year. And ditto to the TWolves.
But, in all honesty, KG wants to win, and I think his new team can easy make it to the finals next year where they will be decimated by a Western Conference powerhouse. Maybe just MAYBE KG is asking for a trade to Boston so he can get to LA? Think about it, he doesn’t sign a extension, says “I never wanted to go to Boston, trade me,” and the Celtics want him out of the east, trade him back west (to the Lakers and Celts) and by this time, Bynum is a monster and LO is more consistent, they BEG for a trade, and we tell THEM KG isn’t enough.
Wishful thinking.
Silo….you seem to think that KG can say yes to LA and it is a done deal. There is a problem with that…..Minnesota does not want what the Lakers have to offer. Add to that, problems with KG’s trade kicker.
Take a look at this
http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/columns/story?columnist=stein_marc&page=TradeKicker101
hZm… if you want to keep the community strong than i suggest this site to be renamed… it’s fricking embarrseing you know it i know it and the whole Laker nation knows it…. you guys might say otherwise but deep down you guys know this site is a mess right now and to relive the site you should change it to something more applying.

NO ****. THEY WANTED YOUNG TALENT. THE VERY REASON WHY, THE THREE TEAM TRADE WITH THE LAKERS, WOLVES AND CELTICS EVER EXISTED.
THEY NEVER WANTED LO. BYNUM WAS THE HOOK AND REEL. ONLY THING THE LAKERS NEED WAS A TEAM TO FORK OVER THE REST OF THE YOUNG TALENT TO PLEASE THE WOLVES NEEDS.
I CANT BELIEVE THIS!
HAS ANYONE FOUND MY ROPE AND GUN YET?
Ironic that the historical archrivals of LA get the one player we have been dying for. This trade will I think be moot for the celtics. Yes they have Allen, Pierce, and now KG - but I really don’t feel that this group will mesh. Ray Allen is in the last throws of his career. Pierce is a scorer at best. KG will now find him self on a team that underachieves and even if they do make the finals will not be able to beat any team out of the west.
HAS ANYONE FOUND MY ROPE AND GUN YET?
nope i couldnt find ur rope SILO but i found ur gun http://www.defenselink.mil/transformation/images/photos/2004-10/photoessay/tpi100804a1.jpg
I really believe Kobe told KG that he still wanted to be traded.
Bright Side: Better Boston than Golden State or, worse yet, Phoenix.
Nyla i believe that…
Kobe, KG, Fisher >>> Ray Allen, KG, Paul Pierce
no he didnt we aked at kobe camp myla
What will the Celtics look like in a few years
****REGARDING NEW NAMES****
We know that this site eventually has to remove “Garnett” name. It’s time for everybody to come up with new names. You can check the availability of the nameS at;
http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/domains/
or use the site of your choice to check.
If it’s OK with the GetGarnett staff, I would like to make a suggestion (and I hope I am not taking a step ahead of myself):
WE SHOULD NOT POST THE SUGGESTED NAMES HERE. EMAIL YOUR SUGGESTION DIRECTLY TO THE GetGarnett.com staff. If you post your suggestions here it may be taken away by somebody else.
How good is JO, I really don’t know much about him

nyla, you have been hanging around haters at the Times Lakers Blog for too long.lol
Nyla i believe that…
I love Kobe to death and have had his back through all of this. But I’m starting to question this. Think about it…trade talks between Minny and LA stopped right after they talked. And I know we don’t have the best package to offer, but it wasn’t that bad.
I don’t want to believe Kobe said that, but I’ve gotta question.

its kinda a hard to belive that cause kobe is crying for help and when the help knocks on the door he says no? i just cant see kobe telling kg even if he (kg) comes to la he still wants to be traded. i dont know but i hate boston i dont even think we are going to land jermain to be honest. not a good day for us laker fans.
go lakers!!
