Sasha will be a restricted FA after Next season so any trade involving him will just be to match salaries, he is basically an expiring contract. I think the biggest problem the Lakers FO has is that they did not have a clear plan. they wanted to build a contender within 2-3 years and get younger players for the future as well. You can not do both. I do not think the Lakers have drafted that badly lately. Critt was the best talent available at #19. Farmar was not a bad pick in the draft before. You can say that Cook was a bad pick, but they were drafting for need. Cook fit the triangle and was a PF that could shoot and could theoretically relieve congestion around Shaq. You can say they should have drafted Howard or Barbosa but no one knew how good they would be and if you could have do overs they would have both been lottery picks and would not have been available anyways. The other mistake was trading Caron for Brown. I know they Lakers were overloaded at SF and needed a big man but I think they could have gotten more for Butler. But I think everyone needs to remember that Brown was traded for so that he could play PF and Odom could play his natural position at SF.
