Jim Hill To Replace Massengale on LTV

Jim HillCBS sportsanchore, Jim Hill will replace Alan Massengale on LTV, the Lakers pre-game show on KCAL 9.

During Media Day, Kobe was seen shooting a possible TV spot for LTV with both James Worthy and Jim Hill, no Massengale in sight. There’s also some word that Alan Massengale’s contract with CBS was not renewed earlier this year.

A legendary figure in the Southern California sports world, Jim Hill has arguably been the top sportscaster for years.

Polls conducted by local newspapers over the years have named Hill the top Southern California sportscaster. Additionally, Hill was highlighted as tops in Los Angeles by the national newspaper, USA Today.

Stu and Meyers work for the Lakers.

Hill and Worthy work for CBS.

Is it just me or do I get sick of Stu?

Oh great lookout! I just changed the post since its official.

I like Jim Hill, always have. So do the players, maybe because he shows them all respect. A pregame host for Jim, will be good for us and the Lakes.

“i dont really think the players care who the pregame host is..dont thing it makes them play better”

Kind of a bizzarre remark you made when I was only talking about the quality of Jim Hill and what he brings to the table. The players do like him and open up with more than let’s say TJ Simmers and other locals. They being more open with Jim means we get better interviews, and they get understood better. Why would that not be good?

Good for us and good for them. How Jim makes them play better or not….I don’t get it…..your point?

  12. hZm says:

LD2k and I met Jim Hill at the Kobe Basketball Academy. Really cool guy! I think we also let him know about the site. (Back when we were GetGarnett)

  13. ab4sure says:

This is a good move for the lakers and for kobe. Kobe likes Jim Hill and is one of the few who he will do interviews with. He is not totally objective in his reporting of the Lakers(he favors the lakers), but heck it is LTV a laker station so you don’t have to be totally objective.

  14. JAVIER GONZALEZ says:

CHEMISTRY = ALAN & JAMES WORKED GOOD TOGETHER BECAUSE THEY BOTH HAVE DIFFRENT PERSONALITIES AS WITH JIM AND JAMES THEY BOTH HAVE THE SAME PERSONAITIES = BORING

  15. Andy says:

I agree with Javier. Alan and James had great chemistry. It was an entertaining show. Not that I don’t respect Jim Hill, but the pregame show is a damn snorefest now.

  16. Esther says:

I find Jim totally boring- please bring Alan back!

  17. Peter says:

I liked James & Alan. They were good together. I always watched the pre-game show. Now I dont watch it that much anymore =/ But still go Lakers!

  18. Joe Basket says:

I miss Alan Massengale, he was witty and fun to watch. LTV is not the same without him.

  19. Ruslan says:

It’s a shame they let Massengale go. I thought he was funny, made smart remarks and made the pregame show worth watching. I love James Worthy and have nothing against Jim Hill but he is just boring, no emotions whatsover, boring monotonic voice. I’d rather have Steve Hartman even though he’s a Laker-hater and Kobe-hater but at least he will bring some controversy, some excitement.

  20. laker4life says:

i used to love watching LTV everytime that it was on but now i find really boring.its not that i dont respect jim hill he is a great REPORTER and interviewer, but for a show like ltv u need someone more exciting, witty and fun that gets you pumped up for the game.

  21. AJ Massenhill says:

Alan mASSengale came across like a self-important jerk – good riddance. Jim Hill may be a legend and a nice guy but he’s also bland as hell and the king of butchering people’s names. He still hasn’t figured out that Elton Brand’s name isn’t Elden Brand even though EB has been in town for 7 years.

  22. Bruce says:

So where is Alan Massengale now???

  23. Luis says:

I have to agree. I miss Alan. Pregame is now boring.

  24. Leo says:

Nobody seems to know where Massengale is now. I did an internet search and found nothing. Perhaps he’s relaxing for a while. Hope he turns up again, he’s excellent.

  25. Hector says:

man jim hill sucks. sucks. sucks.

  26. Annette says:

Where is Alan Massengale now? Nobody seems to know where he is or they just don’t want to tell? Just let him know we love him and miss him especially now that the Lakers are playing so well. I miss his comments and take on every game before and after.

  27. david says:

I don't see the need to keep Alan a secret. We like Alan and wish to follow him where he decides to go.

  28. Jaavi says:

Congrats to Jim! However, I don’t think he can host a pre-game show like Alan can. He’s just not that kinda guy. Sorry Jim. Hartman could be a way better host. Sorry to see Alan go. I wish he could come back, back, back, back, back, back. Thanks for the great showmanship Alan.
