Lakers eclipse the Suns; 119-98
Yahoo: The Phoenix Suns got home at 4 a.m., then sleepwalked through their home opener. The result was a 119-98 rout at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers.More games like this and Kobe Bryant might not want to leave Los Angeles.
Vladimir Radmanovic made all four of his 3-pointers and scored 19 points, and Bryant added 16 points and 11 rebounds Friday night in a game that was not nearly as close as the final 21-point margin.
The only interesting moment down the stretch came when Suns coach Mike D’Antoni became livid when Lakers coach Phil Jackson called a timeout, right after the Suns called one, with 4:55 to play and Phoenix trailing 111-78.
The capacity crowd at US Airways Center booed the home team, often, for the first time in recent memory as the Suns lost at home to the Lakers for the first time in the regular season since Steve Nash came to Phoenix in 2004.

man ronny turiaf’s court vision is great… if he would just step up more on offense and score at least 15 pts by using his mid range shot more, while staying out of foul trouble… we will have a GREAT TEAM!!!
Finally!!!!thats the team that we all saw. if they can play like that then we can for sure do some damage in the playoffs. kobe just has to keep the team at this intensity.
GREAT team basketball!!!!!!!!!! I love it!
All square. 1-1. As we all know this November is one of the toughest month for us in terms of the oppenents we are facing. Tell you what, this is how we do it. Its only one game, but victory over phonix at phonix is a kiss not to miss for me.
i would love to see the lakers play like that every single game..
Yeah!!!! great play. Hope they stayed like this in every game. So keep on supporting our teams no matter what happened. Kobe is right, it’s just one game, continue the pracice and play your best. Goodluck!!!
Blowng out the Suns is not a bad way to start the season. I’d love to see the Lakers bring this kind of energy to the floor every night. And it kinda looks like Kobe’s tired of the trade talks.
D Fish sure made a lot of difference kicking things off in the first quarter… the difference in this team way way better than the last season.. everything went smoothly… i bet it would’ve been a lot worse with Smush at the point… i think the team now knows how to run the triangle better with the addition of D Fish… the supporting cast really stepped it up and never looked scared to take it to the suns… hope Kobe changes his mind…
That’s what Kobe been saying the whole time.See what happens when you play with that killer instinct,I mean, every one had it going for them last night, especially Rad(almost thought the lakers were the supersonics for a minute).Just imagine when we get Lamar Back,SCARY,or they get J.O’Neal by Feb.’cause to be honest alot of these guys are playing for trade value, let’s be honest.
I hate Ric Bitcher!!!
CANT WAIT FOR THE ECLIPSE OF THE SUNS IN LOS ANGELES…JUST KEEP BALLIN LAKERS…KEEP BALLIN!!!!!!
The team started playing like that without Kobe’s help. Kobe did contribute, but not in a way that was THAT vital to the team, in my opinion of course. I thought it was just spurred on by the collectivity of the team’s defense, and how they started to run the fast breaks.
That picture of Turiaf is epic. And on a side note, if the Suns think that Skinner is going to be able to fill the role that Kurt Thomas had in their rotation, then that organization is smoking some stroooooong stuff.
Let’s keep in mind that the Lakers always had the capabilities to run with these types of teams. The problem comes when they play teams that every one knows they can beat. The lakers will just come out relaxed then start off playing catch up all game. Eventually they will get close but lose at the end.
Lets hope since this is “Contract Year” for some players that they wont come out relaxed.
