This is just great. Late in the 4th quarter, a “not-needed” timeout was called by Phil and this set D’Antoni off. He talked to the refs, made verbal rants and cries towards them and his players, and eventually, looked over at Phil and said, “you play us three more times.” Phil responded by telling him, “what the (bleep) do you want? Go sit down…”
Poor Mike still couldn’t let it go. He was asked after the game about the situation.
“You mean the eight minutes he took over there to explain maybe one play that he probably didn’t run? Yeah, I was pretty upset,” D’Antoni said. “I thought he disrespected our players. But he likes to play mind games, and that’s fine. He might want to try to do it in playoff time when we bust them every year. We have them three more times. . . . That’s fine.”
The Lakers play the Suns next on Christmas day and the best part is, we have the clip.

And ohh… about Dantoni’s anger management… the zen master should have something for him. eheh. The bottomline is I understand it was Jackson’s mandotory timeout and because the game was already over by the time this drama happened, phil might have thought why not right then and let the game be over. It’s no disrespect from his side at all. If he was to disrespect, he would not have sat down Kobe. And also nothing to do with revenge. “REVENGE” for Phil and all us Laker fans is to beat the Phoenix Suns in the playoffs, not an untimely ‘timeout.’ Finally, Mike was mad already because he knew he got a L and the home crowd had already started booeing the suns.

Back to reality, if that was PJ’s intention, then yeah its just bad sportsmanship - no team wants the agony of such a game extended needlessly. Having said that, however, PJs explanation after the game was that a 4 minute mandatory ESPN break was about to take place so he tried to head it off by taking a full time which is only 1 minute.
Taking PJ at his word - D’Antoni should have done that himself to shorten the game. But since he didnt have the wherewithal to do that, PJ tried to do him a favor.
Yea i also loved it when D’antoni lost it last season against the ref’s in the western finals it’s just too fun to miss when he goes all spycho…

He knows he needs to win a title soon and a blow out on opening night at home isn’t looking to good to Phoenix fans right now.
