I noticed this from a new piece from Stein. Lakers have a mention in association with JO. Looks like there will be NO O’Neal; at least for now…

L.A.’s attempts to acquire O’Neal in the offseason stalled because it refused to part with Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum, but the latest word is Indiana has no interest at present in parting with O’Neal.

damn, bring kobe some help!!
WE DONT NEED JO!
KEEP HIM!
they are optimistic. Its the beginning of the season they fill they can compete in the weak eastern conference. But when they realize they can’t and JO is going to opt then I expect them to start calling about Bynum. Especially if he continues to play well.
feel*ing you!
Get O’neal NOW!You figure next season we’ll be instant contenders, just listen to what arenas said,if Kobe stays(and he will)look at all the people this team attract.Shawn Marion looked like the only ballin’ last night, probably thinking about how green the grass is on the other side.Wait a minute Corey Maggette(one of the reasons Kobe wanted to join the Clippers in ‘04)or Arenas himself.
I think next offseason, there’s going to be alot of players that will opt out of their contracts and become free agents, especially big name players like Jermaine O’Neal, Gilbert Arenas, Ron Artest, Corey Maggette, Elton Brand, etc. I think if the Lakers don’t make a deal now, then they should do whatever it takes to attract some big name players. I would love JO and Ron Artest.
Well, there may be many free agents on the market but are they willing to play for the vet’s minimum? We’re still going to be over the salary cap leaving only the MLE and vet’s min. I doubt any of those players with the exception of maybe Ron Artest will take a pay cut.
J.O. HAS WAY TOO MANY INJURIES…HE’S ALWAYS HURT. WOULD’NT YOU RATHER HAVE RON ARTEST???? OH YEAH, A TRUE WARRIOR!!!
FO SHO…TOO INJURY PRONE…WE ALREADY HAVE THAT ON THIS TEAM…NEED HEALTHY WARRIORS LIKE RON-RON!!!! AND MAYBE ONR MORE VET!
