For all you Chicken Little’s out there; especially after a bad loss…
FSN: Asked Thursday night if it wasn’t time for the organization to make a definitive statement that Bryant won’t be traded this season, Jackson replied, flatly:
“No.”
Why not, your serene highness?
“I think Dr. [Jerry] Buss has stated maybe twice, once this summer and once again this fall, it’s not our intention to trade Kobe,” Jackson said.
“It never has been our intention to trade him. We want him to remain a Laker and that’s the statement that’s predominant. . . . Since this season started one month ago, there has not been one iota of trade talk going on.”

GOOD HE’S OUR ONLY HOPE!!!
TRADE STUPID LAME LAMAR AND KWAME AND PREDATOR (RONNY) FOR JO THAT SHOULD GET IT DONE.HE ALONE WOULD MAKE UP ALL THREE OF THEIR OFFENSE AND DEFENSE WE NEED A CHANGE NOW NOT AT THE END OF THE YEAR…
then we need to get rid of odom hes doesnt compliment kobe we need to go a different direction. DEFENSE maybe.
Let’s face it, KOBE really makes a difference in our team. It’s time to give Kobe some help, hope they will act on this A S A P!!!
Kobe Bryant goes with Los Angeles Lakers like Peanut Butter goes with Jelly, ya never wanna trade the Bean… Don’t do it!
BChains.
PJ would not extend his contract if Kobe was going to be trade. For sure he will stay at least until 2009.
Now it’s time for the Lakers FO to bring some veteran help to this team.
CALM DOWN & WAIT!
He didn’t say anything new. I think he’ll be moved in Feb.
Time to get rid of the garbage- Odumb, Kwame, Sasha, Luke
These guys just don’t get the job done
why cant anyone just face it that there are better teams now then the 1999-2003 laker team that dominated 3 years in a row. you can’t keep blaming everyone and wanting to trade everyone for washed up people like JO. You guys remember we had a ” all star ” team which included gary payton and karl malone. lets not forget what happend. wash ups are wash ups. hate to say it but bynum is better then Jo RIGHT NOW. it would be a downgrade in my opinon. anways point being theres just so much new talent now that its tough to see our purple and gold lose but its just life and we cant always have the glory. peace.
Did you know that Kobe like honey with his Peanut Butter Sandwiches and not Jelly??? Your analogy makes me think that more now that kobe will want to opt out of his contract.
LO, Kwame and Turiaf for JO??? JO’s not worth all of that. Are you crazy??? LO and a #1 pick is the most the Lakers should offer for JO (I believe that trade would work as LO’s contract is within 25% of JO’s).
However, getting JO is a huge gamble as his contract goes up next year to over $20M per year (After this year JO has two years left of over $20M per year). Should Kobe not opt out of the Lakers, then in 09/10 season, both JO and Kobe would be $46M ($23M for each of those two). How would the Lakers be able to resign their youth, with JO and Kobe hogging the bulk of the salary cap?
Not sure why many of you like JO so much. Sure if we can get him using Kwame or Odom, then it is OK, but seriously I think we will have JO as free agent next season. Just wait folks.
Bynum is doing great now. Our biggest issue is Lamar, he needs to go. Even though I think he is a hard working guy and have a good heart he is just too inconsistent for the Lakers to rely on him as our 2nd man. Bring someone (veteran, please!) more effective to fill his position and we will be in better shape.
LO, Kwame, and Turiaf is not a big loss. We dont get much out of them anyways. Although Turiaf would be a big loss. Other than that its not bad at all. A healthy JO could really bring some consistency to this team. We all know how inconsistent LO and KWame can be. As for the possibility of Kobe and JO taking up 40+ mill of the cap, its not like we wouldnt be able to afford them. They all would fall under the Larry Bird exception, only problem is paying a little luxury tax, which shouldnt be much of a problem seeing we having the biggest market other than NY in the NBA. The only problem with this is Kobes stance on being traded, why trade for JO if KB plans on opting out.
If JO is a free agent, we wouldnt have enough cap space to sign him anyways. Unless he wants to play for the MLE for about 5mill, but I dont see him passing up 40 mill for 5mill. I wouldnt.
LO and Rad for JO is a fair trade but I wouldn’t give up additions like Bynum, Farmar, and Walton for him. JO has a huge contract and is not like he once was. Indy wants more I know but they really can’t get much better deal than that unless they can sucker another team.

BEC: Your last sentence here is a very good point that I forgot to mention “The only problem with this is Kobes stance on being traded, why trade for JO if KB plans on opting out.”
By Kobe keeping quiet about his trade request, he’s essentially holding the Laker FO from doing any major trades.
