Former MPLS Laker Jim Holstein passes away at 77

Beyond the great tradition of the Los Angeles Lakers is life itself. Us here at Lakers Nation give our condolences to the family, as well as give special thanks to a role player during the MPLS championship days:

Lakers.com: Two time NBA Championship winner Jim Holstein died Monday at the age of 77.

Holstein was a key member of the Minneapolis Lakers in his three seasons with the team, winning back-to-back NBA Championships in 1952-53 and 1953-54 under Hall of Fame Coach John Kundla.

The 6’3” 180 pound guard averaged 4.0 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists in 15.8 minutes while playing alongside Lakers legends George Mikan, Vern Mikkelsen, Jim Pollard, Clyde Lovellette and Slater Martin.

Holstein began his basketball career at the University of Cincinnati.
