I think you may be misunderstand what I am saying.

I’m not saying that LO isn’t playing well with Gasol (he’s playing much better). I think the Lakers should keep him.

What I am saying is that when the Lakers agreed to trade for Gasol, they in essence agreed to pay the luxury tax. Next year, their roster equates to about $75M, so they are already over the cap (and that is even before they resign Turiaf).

Even if the trade Odom in the offseason, like you said they would have to do, that still wouldn’t lower the Lakers’ total salary because they would have to trade LO for at last 20% of his $14.5M he is due next year.

In all honesty, the Lakers don’t have to do anything because they can let him walk after next season (or resign him to a reduced contract like you suggested) which, in either event, would lower the Lakers total salary.

Lakersfirst…they way Odom is fitting in now with Gasol, we’re gonna be hard-pressed to find SF thats playing as good as him other than Lebron. I would think Championships are worth the luxury Tax.

Good team win fellas. Lets see… Webber was suppose to elevate the Warrios… not happening. Damon Stoudamire was suppose to make an impact for the Spurs… not happening. The Matrix is supposed to elevate the Heat… not happening. Shaq is suppose to elevate the Suns…LMAO!!! I cant wait until we play them… GO LAKERS!!!

P.S. Is it legal for Pat Riley to publicly recruit one of our players? Am I the only one that saw Riley kissing Odoms azz before the game.

The Lakers will wait to see how LO does the rest of the year before determining whether they will move him or not.

The Lakers are committing to $14M next year regardless. Even if they trade Odom, they would have to trade him for a player (or players) who make at least within 20% of that $14M.

Also, don’t forget that Odom can play multiple positions (he can the 4, the 3, the 2 and even the 1) so that flexibility adds to his value.
