Lakers come back strong in second half to win

L.A. Times: Kobe Bryant scored 11 of his 30 points in the fourth quarter and the Los Angeles Lakers held the Trail Blazers to 36 percent field goal shooting, beating Portland 96-83 Tuesday night for their ninth straight victory.

Second-year backup point guard Jordan Farmar tied a career high with 21 points for the Lakers, who lead the Western Conference by one game over San Antonio and Phoenix and are 40-17, just two wins behind last season’s total with 25 games to play. Bryant added nine rebounds and seven assists, and Pau Gasol had 15 points and 10 rebounds.

LaMarcus Aldridge led Portland with 24 points and Joel Przybilla tied a season high with 16 rebounds.

The Trail Blazers converted their first 21 free throws before Martell Webster missed with 1:33 remaining. But the undermanned Blazers shot under 40 percent from the field for the 10th time this season and the sixth time in their last 16 games. Coach Nate McMillan was ejected with 3:05 to play after arguing about a foul.

I give it to the LAKERS for the win, although I really didn’t like how they played the first 2 quarters! Luckily the Blazers were without Brandon Roy but what about on Friday?? Brandon might be back and if the LAKERS play like they did during the first two quarters they might of well forget about it. Gasol needs to step up to Joel Przybilla and stop him from rebounding. But I am happy that the LAKERS got this one and hopefully will do the same against the Heat & again with the Blazers.

Good job by the lakers in coming back in the 2nd half and playing great defense to win the game. The people who stepped up today were kobe, lamar with his rebounding at the end of the game and farmar who kept us in the game during teh 1st half. Sasha on the other hand had a horrible game, his shot selection was really bad, he needs to shoot when he is passed to and not try to create for himself. Ronny also played great in the limited time that he was on the floor. Overall a good game for the lakers. Out of the next 7 games only Dallas poses a problem. Hopefully we can be 47-17 by then :)

this was a perfect example of how good the team really is. even on their off night, they get it done. this game shows how deep we really are. when the lakers were struggling theres always that one guy that will keep them in teh game, and tonight it was jordan farmar. i think hes 21 points is bigger than kobes 30 because without jordan we were done in the first half. and of course, this is why we have kobe, who pulled us out of this one with the W in the end.

    LAKERS4LYFE!!!

Finally! a great laker roster that can have long winning streaks and be the most dominant in the west. THIS is what we wanted all this time. Thank god this team is very talented again just like the championship laker teams kobe was in 3 years in a row.

I have to agree here. For some reason I too wasn’t worried that the Lakers got down early. Then they came back at and were ahead by 2 points after three quarters!! At that point, I was fairly confident that the Lakers would step up and they did.
