Hollinger: Kobe Most Likely to Break Kareem’s All-Time Scoring Record

Interesting read. Crazy concept. We shall see:

ESPN: One record that’s among the most vulnerable is also the one that’s the most treasured: Kareem’s all-time scoring mark. At the age of 30, Kobe Bryant is about three-fifths of the way there in raw totals, and my method estimates a 30.7 percent chance of him owning the mark.

well it all depends on kobe

Lets say he plays for another 10 years. Starting next season he’ll be 30, if he plays 810 games in the next 10 years, thats subtracting some injuries/suspensions. If he averages 25 ppg in the next 10 years, he’ll score 20,250 points. I don’t know if playoff points count, but if it does, he’ll probably play another 120 playoff games. If he steps up in the playoffs & averages 28 ppg in the playoffs, he’ll score 3360 points in the playoffs. He’ll score another 23610 points in the next 10 years. Since he currently has 20,883, so he’ll either score 41,133 points or 44,493 points in his career, beating Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s record of 38,387 either.

*I’m just guessing how many points & games he’s gonna play in the rest of his career.

plyoff points don’t count, but i think that after this season he will play another 12 or 13 years

He’ll probably break it, but have his record broken a few years later by Lebron.

forget bron, he wont have a long career
his game is too based mainly on power, as soon as he will have a physical problem he wont be as dominant

    exactly…

difference between a pure strength and athletic player
and a pure skill and fundamentals player
