Point Guard - Derek Fisher vs. Tony Parker: Did you know that Fisher had more points in the paint then Parker in Game 2? Naw, I’m just kidding, but it sure seemed that way. I suspect Parker will play a lot better at home, and that’s the only reason it’s not advantage Lakers.
Advantage: Even, but only if Parker continues to play poorly.
Shooting Guard - Kobe Bryant vs. Bruce Bowen: Kobe is really setting himself apart this post-season as the MVP. The only disconcerting thing about his game is his 3PT FGA, a pitiful 27% in the post-season. Evidently, he’s just trying to “be like Mike,” (sarcasm alert) but it is starting to be an observable phenomena. Thankfully, he is doing everything else so superbly that it is so far an unmentioned anomaly. I mean, he’s averaging 32/6/7 on 50% FG shooting.
The Lakers: Where Amazing is Normal.
Advantage: Lakers.
Small Forward - Vladimir Radmanovic vs. Manu Ginobili: Well… Vladdy didn’t quite have the blinder I was hoping for, bur he’s shown a very well-hidden side of his game in the last two games in his ability to get to the basket by cutting from the 3point line. If he can develop that move the Spurs will have to back off him a little and that will open up his outside game.
And I don’t care what Ginobili says, his injuries are slowing him down, and if he doesn’t play better, the Spurs are done, no two-ways about it.
Advantage: Spurs.
Power Forward - Lamar Odom vs. Fabricio Oberto: No contest, Lamar simply will outplay the poor guy.
Advantage: Lakers.
Center - Pau Gasol vs. Tim Duncan: What’s that? Pau can’t guard Duncan? Thats okay, because Duncan can’t make free throws! Actually, Pau has kept Duncan under 50% for the entire series so far, and looks to finally be hitting that midrange set shot. I expect Duncan to play better, but not by much
Advantage: Spurs, slightly.
Bench -
Good news? Ariza is back!
Bad news? Actually, our bench is really doing well this series, although this road game will really test their mettle. Good luck, guys.
