TLN’s Playoff Report: Lakers vs. Spurs [Game 5]

What a game! How is it that the Lakers are seemingly never out of a game? Even on a night where they didn’t even play that well, they still were able to put out the defending champs in 5 games.

The Lakers shot 45% from the field, even though they only shot 32% in the first half. The difference in the game came on the boards where the Lakers finally took care of business by out-rebounding the Spurs by 3.

The Lakers needed both Kobe and Pau to play 42 minutes, including the entire second half to get the win.

The Lakers also got it done on defense tonight, with 9 steals and 6 blocks.

In my opinion, the refs were awful tonight on both accounts. Seemed like they missed a ton of calls both ways. That play where Farmar dribbled, lost it, picked it up and dribbled again seemed illegal to me. And Pau was getting fouled like no other.

Now, the bests of the night…

Top 3 Laker Performers -

1) 39 points, 16-30 Fgs, 3 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals. Guess who? MVP — Kobe Bryant!

2) Pau struggled from the field, but was active all night. He had 19 boards and 4 blocks.

3) Sasha played great D tonight and aside from his one forced shot, he did everything we needed tonight.

Lakers Smush of the Day (Note: STD denotes the Laker that played the poorest): I don’t really think we had one tonight. Maybe our first quarter as a team.

Play of the Game: Lamar’s and 1 with his right hand on the break.

What to Look for Next Game: I’ll have a pre-series report when we know more information. Either way, it will be a fun series. If you need tickets for the NBA FINALS, let me know. I’m almost sold out for all three home games, but have some left starting at $355 per ticket. E-Mail LakersDynasty999@GMail.com. Please mention TLN.

Go Lakers!

hahahaha Skip Bayless actually gave Kobe and the Lakers the upmost, he even went as far as throwing ginobli’s jersey over his shoulder and officially getting off the spurs wagon……I think Jordan Farmar is 3rd today or at least ties with Sasha!!!!! GO LAKE SHOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!

Everyone, we are watching greatness. We are wittnessing one of the best teams ever, and definitely we are watching the greatest player ever to touch a basketball. Jordan is more accomplished for sure… for now but if you just watch them both its clear Kobe has an arsenal of shots that Jordan doesnt have. Kobe is the best, the Lakers are the best of the West and soon to be the best in the league, Im simply ecstatic! Lets Go Lake Show!!!

almost there.. its gonna feel amazing seeing the lakers play in the final.. the atmosphere is the palace/garden and the staples center is going to be electrifying. neither one of those teams has a shot to touch kobe. lakers have already knocked out 2 of the top 5 teams in the league (spurs, jazz), just one more knock out punch. LETS GO LAKERS!!!!

  20. Gravatar Icon 20 pancho

Hey, wow, unbelievable I thought we’d go into the playoffs but god,not to the finals………kobe your playing your best year and talk about team chemistry……….unbelievable…….wearin their hats and t shirts and holding the trophy last night……I stood in front of my tv and was clapping ………god bless the lakers and it’s fans………go lakers unbelievable…….

The fact is, we match up well against the spurs, phil knows all of popavich’s tricks, and he exploited tim duncans slow pick and roll defense. Boston will be much tougher, they are young and athletic, garnett plays great defense and is quick. What we have to do is exploit the kobe vs ray allen match up because i dont think allen can keep up with him, nor is he shooting well during the playoffs this year. Pierce should have trouble with odom for sure, and vice versa. Expect more buckets from gasol, because garnett will be helping alot on kobe. Expect farmar and fisher to demolish the unexperienced horrible passer rondo and the old and frail cassel. Overall i think it will be real tough to get open shots from the parameter considering boson is the best parameter defense there is. We need to look in the paint, that is our salvation.

oh yeah. its a message. a message that shows the end of a dynasty; and the beginning of another one.

I’m soo ecstatic about the win. I wanted to cry watching the Lakers come up from such a hard battled fight. They beat the Jazz and the Spurs, two very difficult teams who seemed healthy. The Lakers have been plagued all season with injuries, but it did not stop the Lakers from taking the top seed in the West. It was Destiny at work again, this is a new Dynasty. It was meant to be for the team from the city of Angels.

The Lakers, my favorite all time sports team, go to the Finals again!

Four more wins, and we get to celebrate yet another parade!

  24. Gravatar Icon 24 hZm

    4 more.

A BIG HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO THE LAKERS FOR A GREAT WIN AND A SEASON FOR THE RECORD BOOKS!

MOST OF ALL A HUGE, HUGE CONGRATULATIONS TO KOBE FOR HIS STEADFASTNESS AND DETERMINATION TO TURN A DIFFICULT BEGINNING SEASON INTO A WINNER! KOBE SHOWED EVERYONE WHAT HE IS MADE OF BY MAKING HIS POINT ON THE COURT!

REALLY A FANTASTIC YEAR WITH THE BEST YET TO COME! WAY TO GO LAKERS!

  27. Gravatar Icon 27 PauKobeBynumDynasty

That was the best game of the series, even better than games 1 or 2. We’re going to the Finals!

I can’t see why you guys wanna play Boston…yes, that would make the fans more hyped up, but I think we have a higher chance of winning against detroit. We beat them by 12 at home in the regular season, and only lost by 1 on a Tayshaun Prince three.

Did you guys see the award ceremony at the end? Kobe looked like a little kid in the huddle, like he was in 2000.

Since we will not get homecourt advantage against the East, we need to beat boston/detroit at most in 5 games.

  28. Gravatar Icon 28 DCLAKER

I don’t know if y’all watched it but at the end of the game when Kobe and Bruce(MY FAVORITE DEFENSIVE PLAYER) embraced and Bruce looked directly into Kobe Grill and said “BRING IT HOME”.I’ve seen alot of respect shown from different players(especially CP3) but that was CLASSY,MUCH RESPECT BRUCE FROM LAKERNATION!

  29. Gravatar Icon 29 vintij

everyone watch the game tonight and come back to post all the celtic weakness’ you think phil should exploit. And also, watch the players who you think phil should double team, or at least zone out.

  30. Gravatar Icon 30 Michael_23

I think after the game Magic pulled Kobe to the side and told him kick Boston’s ass. He wasn’t mic’d or anything but the camera showed it behind the Laker crowd for a second or two.

  31. Gravatar Icon 31 Sako

BOO-HOO!!! LET’S TRADE FARMAR. WE INCLUDED THE WRONG PG IN THE GASOL TRADE. OH-OH-OH LET’S TRADE HIM!!!

  32. Gravatar Icon 32 RD

with 4 more wins away, there is NO WAY kobe is gonna let the lakers lose in the finals this year! NO WAY, no matter who we play!

  33. Gravatar Icon 33 DCLAKER

Remember Lakernation,THE PRESSURE,like Barkeley said,is on Boston ’cause of ‘The Big 3′(experience) ’cause The Laker ‘AIN’T GOIN’ NOWHERE’,10 YEAR REIGN!

    UNSTOPPABLE.com,ONE OF THE BEST PERFORMANCES I’VE SEEN,EVER.That wasn’t Jordanesque….That was Kobe,well…BEING KOBE!
