Bold statement from Mamba

If This Isn’t On the bulletin board in the Celtics’ locker eoom… Then there is something wrong with that bulletin board. Is this something to worry about? Sound-off in the comments and tell us what you think!

Newsday: In the huddle before Game 1 of the NBA Finals, with the anticipated matchup with the Celtics only moments away, Kobe Bryant gathered his teammates for a speech that could have peeled paint off the walls in any version of the Boston Garden.

“We could play them seven times here and beat ‘em!” Bryant shouted, according to several teammates and an arena official who overheard the screed. “We could play them on Mars or Pluto and beat ‘em! We’re the better team!”

Well what’s he supposed to say?!!!? “We’ll be lucky to beat these guys here. I hope you all said your prayers. Let’s hope a lot of them get injured otherwise we stand no chance. We don’t really belong on the same floor with these basketball gods but someone had to play them. Lakers on 3….”

Its a true statement by the way. Kobe knows what hes saying.

Doc Rivers said the Celtics were a better team even when Pierce got injured.

Good stuff Kobe! It’s about time the entire team gets a wake up call. They seemed a little lethargic in Game 1.

Doc Rivers would say the Celtics were the better team even after all of the big 3 were injured

get ready for the mamba show tonight

  10. Gravatar Icon 10 LAKing

Look for another Celtic to fall down, get carried to the Locker room and make a another dramatic appearance to pump up the crowd. Pathetic. The Lakers are the better team even without Bynum. Look for the Lakers to unleash hell on Boston.

I admire Kobe’s confidence, but when it comes down to it, Lakers are a better equipped team. A regular season record doesn’t prove much. Both teams have winning records and much has to be taken into consideration (i.e. the Lakers have a harder conference and play more conference teams, the Lakers only acquired Gasol in the mid-season the Lakers do not run up scores, Lakers have been plagued with tragic injuries of Bynum and Ariza, etc…) Although Celts have home court advantage, the Lakers are proven capable to win on the road. They have proved this in the playoffs and the Celtics have barely, only winning one playoff game until the 3rd round against a weary Detroit team. I like Kobe’s confidence and winner’s attitude. It keeps his fellow teammates motivated and fans reassured that we will win it all =)
