Phil Jckson made a good point a while back…
The refs should be independent from the league office and should not be governed by David Stern and his cronies.

I want to see statistics published on refs so we can see which are the good ones and which are the bad ones. We need to start weeding out the lousy ones.

I am not surprised by Donaghy’s allegations.

I think that it’s simple - the NBA is a business, a tycoon, a mega corporation. The more games in a series, the more revenue the NBA makes (whether from sponsors, commercials, or broadcasting). The exposure of 7 games seems more intriguing than a blow out. In efforts to increase profits and extend the series, the referees make more calls in favor of one time, which can ultimately effect the score of the game.

Starting with Mendy “the Celtic” Rudolph, (the long time head of officials) the refs have always helped the Celtics. It took a super team of Magic, Kareem, Worthy and company to finally overcome the whistle blowing “leprechans” - its tough to beat a team when its 5 on 7 (as it was in the day of that piece of sh!t Red Auerbach).

This is previlent in the LA-Boston series with the freethrow discrepancy and how David Stern knows that the Lakers are better than the Celtics by coming out of the tougher Western Confrence sooner than the Celtics came out of the easier Eastern Confrence. He knows that if the series goes to seven games that it means that there will be more money, merchandise, and TV money. Another thing that disquiets me with the Donaghy case, is that the refs he was working with were in charge of the only seven game series in the 2002 Playoffs that went seven games, Lakers and Kings. Which means that the Lakers may not have won that series fairly and I’m all for no cheating which may have given the Lakers one of their championships.

In addition, I personally believe these conspiracies are true. How easy is it for league officials to ask these refs to give all close calls to certain teams (may it be home court teams or so.) And this rule about giving respect to certain players that deserve special treatment is just annoying. So what if Lebron or kobe fouls out in the 2nd quarter or gets thrown out for excessively badmouthing the refs. A flagrant foul on Turiaf should be a flagrant foul on Dwight Howard!

see my fear is the other way around — that if the NBA is indeed fixed, they might want Boston to win. Everybody know that Lakers have so much upside specially when Bynum comes back that they’ll be the team to contend with in the West. But who knows how long these Celtics Bit*hes have left in their tank. They might be like the Heat of 2006, one-hit wonders.

They want to prolong this rivalry as much as they can and the only way is to let Boston and Lakers get their share of rings. Boston’s might be now.

what does that have to do with donahuge? What does it have to do with the alleged “fixed series”? First you say that the nets series was fixed, and back it up with evidence of two ejections. then you come out of left field and say the kings series was fixed too because of a one ref that is still calling games today? Dude pretty mmuch all refs from that year are still calling games in the finals today. whats your point.

I don’t believe in this - however, if you READ his letter then some of his stuff match’s up.

My point is a LOT of people claim G2 of the 08 finals were rigged. Surprisingly, some of these refs also ref’d in lop-sided FINALS games before. That’s all.

Again, I do NOT BELIEVE IN THIS. However, some of the evidence is scary.
