Sugarcoat it or tell it like it is? That is the “Hamlet” question for Lakers fans Nationwide.
If you saw Kobe Bryant’s face pregame on national television on Tuesday, you saw him sitting on the bench during warm-ups; rolling his eyes away from the camera. He is a man who wants to tell it like it is.
Our Lakers are in trouble. Gasol has admitted himself, that he is having a Freddy Krueger type of series. Meanwhile, Odom has to keep reinventing a new way to phrase “more aggressive” everytime he gets interviewed and Fisher is as quite as his game and demeanor. These three are our best players right after Kobe, and they do not have their work uniforms on. Let’s not even mention the likes of Vlad and Walton who are playing like their not even employed.
Does anyone remember James Worthy’s skin peeling dive on the sideline for a loose ball? That is what it takes to win a Championship. You strap on your tools, you grease your palms, and it doesn’t matter if it’s one thousand degrees, you are going to come up out of the mine with a handful of gold. Kobe’s got his picket, and Sasha’s got the bucket, but the rest of them are clocking in sporadically, and some have called in sick.
Some of you are going to say “What are you talking about? We won game three, we have a series.”
Really?
Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce possibly had their worst games of the entire season, combined, and their Celtics had the lead with a mere seven minutes to play in the fourth quarter!
Here you might say, “Well, that’s okay. Gasol and Odom had bad games too, so that evens out.”
Again… really?
Pau and Lamar’s piss-poor outings started in Game One, continued in Game Two, and now Game Three while, Garnett and Pierce’s was probably a one game fluke.
Then, there’s the bench.
All year, the Lakers bench has been praised and applauded for their success, but now they are getting out-worked, out-played, and out-hustled by the likes of P.J. Brown, Sam Cassell, and Leon Powe. If the lackadaisical play continues, our beloved Lakers will be outed.
We need to something Lakers Nation! This has to be a call out to all Lakers players, coaches, front office members, and all the fans!
Get motivated, get geared up, and let’s get going! Game four is the real pivotal game. If the Lakers win, it’s a best out of three series in five days. At that point, the age of the Celtics has to play a part if the Lakers extend the series because the Lakers have fresher and younger legs. So…
WAKE UP! THE CHAMPIONSHIP IS THERE FOR WHOEVER DIGS THE DEEPEST… GO AND GET IT!

Indeed, we need to BLOW OUT the Celtics, give them their worst loss (worst loss this season for the Celtics was by 18 points at home to the Jazz) We need to have our “Big 3″ with near triple-doubles and our bench with 35+ scoring. Is it me or do Lakers fans seem weaker than Boston fans? I remember watching the first two games on a fixed volume (level 12) and it was hella loud. You couldn’t even hear the whistle at times. For Game 3, I used the same level but didnt really feel like Staples is loud enough. Plus, when are the Lakers gona give out free yellow t-shirts out to the fans so that it feels more intimidating here?!?
L.A. have too many passive/rich (especially the “movie stars”) who just sit back and relax. Lakers need a more energetic and vocal crowd to pump them up each game!

You will be hard pressed to find many actual Laker “fans” at these Finals games. Real fans have been priced out. Are you kidding me? Tickets in the lower bowls start at like 1 or 2 grand. Many of these seats are owned by talent agencies, and most of the celebrities you see (not named Jack, Dyann Cannon, Andy Garcia, etc) are there because their agents want them to be seen. They probably have something out to promote. Hartman said on AM 570 today that Hilary Duff left right after they showed her on the big screen thingy. Kind of a shame, but if that’s what it’ll take for Buss to pay to keep the team together…

Great Article! Finally someone said what a lot of us who are die hards truthfully feel. Do you guys realize that if Odom atleast hit his average we would be up 3-0! I swear I keep yelling at the TV and specifically at Odom to show some more heart and passion. At this point I am seriously reconsidering changing my TLN screen to “Trade Odom”!

Dose’nt matter what we want other lakers besides Kobe have to have the desire as well. This passive play is not getting it done. Cmon Gasol/Odom/Walton/Fisher/et al wake and show the same fire as Kobe, Boston is not that good, you are making them look that way so what else can the analyst say. These same guys had the Lakers as the favorites before the Finals began. Nuff Said.

I do agree the Lakers are not showing up for this series. They are being forced to play east coast style half-court; they have got to force the tempo to a west coast style (Farmar and Vujacic did that for them in game 3).
On the other hand I don’t agree with your comments on Gasol. I don’t know what you saw in game 2, but Gasol played really well and in Game 3 (I was there by the grace of god) he didn’t play his best, but Garnett and Perkins were right on top of him every time he went into the paint — Pau couldn’t move. He got rebounds and he defended well so let’s not put him in the same category as Lamar, Vlad Rad, and Walton. In fact, the Lakers played amazing defense on Tuesday. Their offense was just not there because of the tempo.
I don’t know if they will win the series, but I am not going to count this underdog out until they finish the home games. Go Lakers!

I posted a comment the other day about four of our starters in game three,after I posted it I felt like a fair weather fan (I’m not critical of others that do)I just think that good defense and foul trouble plus a sack of questionable screens. Well I’ll just sit back a root for the lakers and hope they play with the heart and passion of the laker nation….yeah we deserve a team that comes to battle and take the damn title.
