Lakers already favored to win 08-09 NBA Championship?

According to BetExpress.com the Lakers are 2-1 favorites to win the NBA championship. With the Celtics trailing at 4-1 (with that defense, I disagree with these odds BIG TIME). Eitherway, it’s a pretty good start to a dissapointing, and surely long, off-season…

  • Lakers 2-1
  • Celtics 4-1
  • Spurs 8-1
  • Pistons 10-1
  • Hornets 15-1
  • Suns 15-1
  • Jazz 15-1
  • Cavs 15-1

Just what we need - overconfidence!!!

As long as we have Smush Walton, Space Cadet Vlad Rad, Lame-O the midnight clubber on the roster, and have not acquired a quality point guard (Fisher is showing some signs of age and Jordan is dwarfed on the court) — forget it! It ain’t gonna happen.

It is IMPERATIVE that we unload Smush Walton and VladRad.
They must NOT under any circumstances be on our roster next year!

Trade they for two peanut vendors and a parking lot attendant if you have to but get them the he!! off of the roster! They have absolutely no business being on the floor!

    Enough is enough!

Im not surprised. With a guy like Bynum in the middle, we can pretty much be unstoppable. I do want a guy who can play defense at SF and a consistent PG but our lineup is fine the way it is.

A finals record 18 steals by Boston in game 6.

Bynum is not going to do a lot about that. We need to get rid of our garbage and get some talent out there.

Harrah’s CEO Gary Loveman has a 2.4% minority ownership in the Celtics. Las Vegas Sports Consultants knew exactly what they were doing when they set that line. All I can say is read between the lines. Your heart may say LA but your wallet should be telling you Boston!!! This year was a perfect example!!!

umm i dont who are the favorites but they are rite in picking the lakers cuz now the whole fuking world and the nba has seen kg get his ring… like every hof is supposed to get a ring…( stockton, malone, barkley) just to name a few anyways celtics were lucky we not have bynum..

People need to relax If we had Bynum in this series along with Pau, I dont care how good Boston’s defense was we would have kicked their butts in 5 reason being we would have had a solid presence in the middle and trust me this years Boston will be a one hit wonder just like the 06 Heat.

On another note I too would like us to get Artest or a defensive minded SF and I really hope we resign Kwame back because I see no other team wanting him and he knows our system well and remember we dont need his offense but we definitely need his defense and strength inside cuz other than Shaq no one I repeat no one moved Kwame off the block the man is brute strength inside and I know we could have used him this series for sure.

People here hated Kwame because of his horrible offense and terrible hands but his hands were great on defense and was great gaurding the pick n roll.

    Resign him Mitch

AS LONG AS WE STILL HAVE RAD, GASOL AKS SOFTIE, WALTON, AND FISHER, WE AINT WINNG NO RINGS!! WE NEED PLAYERS LIKE SHAWN MARRION, JERMAINE ONEILL, DELONTE WEST, COREY MAGGETTE, JOSH SMITH, GILBERT ARENAS, OR STEPHON MARBURY IF WE WANNA WIN ANYTHING!!!!! WE NEED MORE DEFENSE. HECK, DIKEMBE MUTUMBO WILL BE A BETTER CHOICE THAN GASOL….

By the way, love that name “Smush” Walton. Even my wife had good laugh with that one.

As for being the favored to win it all, I don’t like it at all. I’d rather that they not be favored to motivate them more, especially the young guys.

LO will NOT be effective at the SF position. He’s too slow and can’t shoot on the perimeter and too passive to take advantage in the post…not that Phils bullsh*t triangle would let him…He’s most effective in an uptempo, run and gun system like he was in Miami. He has to be traded…defensive SF, ballhandling PG, tough big man. You can’t doo anything with Vlad or Fluke…NOBOBY WANTS THEM! Try to buy them out maybe…goodluck!

I like that. Would make a fantastic chant.

Dump Walton and Vlad (both need their heads examined as PJ has said about Vlad) and bring in Artest. That move will dump some softies and bring in the tough, physical head-banger that PJ is talking about.

Boston should be the favorites for 08-09, regardless what roster moves the Lakers make, until the Lakers beat them once. That’s the way it has always been and for a good reason. In NBA there is a good deal of continuity and champions don’t die easily.

well we still have the best player in the league and we got to the Finals without a true centre so i think we are on point for next season..

Forget the heart, my head would have to say Lakers are getting Bynum back, celts have an older team, will the celts pay Posey??, hard to repeat… so yes the line is about right.
