Ron Artest joined the Loose Cannons this afternoon in a very interesting interview. They discussed everything from Ron’s career, to the Lakers this season in the NBA finals.
They also mentioned how the City of Los Angeles would embrace him if he geared up next season in the Purple and Gold. He said he could make the difference toughness and defensive wise.

He says he would like to play with Lamar because he has known him since they were 10 years old. (That’s why he was following the team from coast to coast) He says he wants to play somewhere that he will be appreciated. I know the Laker Nation would appreciate a player of his ability. He would put us head and shoulders above the competition. My only concern would be his personality meshing with a very cohesive group. He’s very much an individual. Why not? He’s a point forward, we’ve all seen him bring the ball down the court like a point guard many times. I say it can work out. Imagine a 6′1″ point guard being forced to guard Lamar. But I doubt it, if we get Ron Ron, we’ll start Derek Fisher, and Lamar will lead the bench mob.

If Artest opts out the Lakers have to go after him and put him in a Lakers uniform. If the Lakers don’t you can bet that San Antonio or one of the other contenders such as Phoenix or Dallas will. Artest is the Dennis Rodman of this generation. He brings what the Lakers need and Phil Jackson is the perfect coach to bring out the best in Artest. If your not getting better, your getting worse. I think the way the Lakers lost Game 6 can be turned into a positive, if it motivates the Lakers into making the smart moves that need to be made. GET ARTEST

The 2nd quote gives EVERYONE in Los Angeles to embrace him as such because we know that defense -or lack thereof- is what cost the Lakers a championship this year.

Well he wants the most money he can get and we all know it. Sasha is going to seek the full MLE so we don’t get Artest unless Mitch does to Sac what he did to Memphis which I don’t see happening at all.

Trade Kobe for Artest…..(just kidding). Most of the trade ideas just aren’t going to work. The only way we see Artest in purple and gold is if he decides this is where he wants to play next year. He has the choice to opt out or stay, or go to a different team for more money. I am with the majority, if there is any way to get him here, absolutely do it! Quiting on Lamar would all but end any chance of him coming. But when reality sets in and we look at those we have to keep, (Vlad and Luke), things really could be a lot worse. I don’t think either have given us their best yet. And if we have to keep them (contracts) then let’s just hope they step it up.
