BREAKING NEWS: Lakers’ Ariza exercises ‘09 option

Our gem in Trevor Ariza will be back! I am so pumped about this! Great news!

SI.com: Forward Trevor Ariza, acquired in a November trade with Orlando, has exercised his player contract option to remain with the Los Angeles Lakers.

He appeared in 24 games for the Lakers before breaking a bone in his right foot on Jan. 20. He missed the rest of the regular season and 11 playoff games before returning for Game 2 of the Western Conference finals.

  12. Mark says:

Good news! I hope he improves his shooting!

If he does, they’re gonna be one heck of a team!

  13. Soichiro says:

With defense specialist Ariza back, I dont think we need Artest…

What the Lakers need is an experienced big man who can back Gasol and Bynum.

    ex. Nazir Mohammed, Marcus Camby

and a big, experienced PG who can help bolster the back court with defense and shooting.

  14. Fred A. says:

Getting Artest without trading these will make my summer:
    MVP-Black Mamba
Fisher-great point guard that knows the triangle, good 3 point shooter.
Odom-even though he is an inconsitiant ball player, still keep him, I feel that will change.
    Gasol-knows what to with ball.
Bynum-amazing in lots of areas, good shot blocker.
    Farmer-good with penetrating the lane.
Ariza-highlight kind of guy, good defense.
Tariaf-good mid-range shooter, brings excitement to the game.
    Vujavic-shooting and great defense.
    Mihm-a good go to center.

  15. Jonny says:

    Soichiro

ok. . i agree with you on artest but it seems you forget who we have on this team

“What the Lakers need is an experienced big man who can back Gasol and Bynum.”

his name is Chris Mihm. he is big, experienced, and can back up bot Gasol and Bynum

“and a big, experienced PG who can help bolster the back court with defense and shooting.”

we have Farmar, we have Fisher, and either this year or next year we’re bringing in our own Sun “the Chinese Magic” Yue.

basically guys this team is set to go for a while, and at the very least i don’t expect any changes until at least the All-Star break.

  16. LN1 says:

    trevor!!! atta-boy!

  17. yellowpurplefever says:

Awsome news. Ariza needs to bulk up a bit so he can bang with SF in this league. Once he gets his groove back and focus on defense big SF (Pierce). What out. I like the idea of getting Nazier Mohamed. Good call.

  18. thevoiceofreason says:

If Ariza could shoot the ball he would easily be in the starting line up.

  19. lakersdynasty09 says:

    YES!..NOW ARTEST!

  20. e says:

great news!!! gem definitely characterized ariza’s role well

  21. Ignard says:

    Awesome Trev is the man.
CAN WE PLEASE GET THAT STUPID
    GET GARNETT
DOWN, IT’S OVER, LET’S MOVE ON!

  22. ab4sure says:

This love for Artest reminds me of Other Loves the Lakers did not get… The love of Jermaine O’neal, the love of Jason Kidd, the love of KG (which looking back we should be glad to not have gotten.. can u say Bynum and we would not have gotten Gasol because we would have used up Kwame’s contract.

  23. go2act says:

    Ariza is great!!

    Energic!! Powerful!!
