Kobe will delay surgery on pinky for Olympic glory

What are your thoughts on Kobe’s decision on delaying the surgery? Sound-off.

O.C. Register: Despite a seriously injured hand, which doctors confirmed needs surgery, Bryant will play on the Olympic team, which was named today. The NBA’s reigning MVP will put off surgery until after the Games, threatening his participation in the Lakers training camp prior to next season.

We knew this was the plan. If he stuck through the season, he DAMN WELL DESERVES TO HONOR OUR COUNTRY BY PLAYING. I’m glad, we’ll have a solid foundation to start off training camp with or without Kobe (who may be healing). Besides, I think the entire USA doesn’t want to lose again - Kobe assures our country of just that.

Yea this was the plan all along, when he decided to put off surgury in the first place he said it would be until after the olympics. So will the olympic team bring Vitti along so he can tape it up and deal with everything?

Personally, while I respect Kobe and Pau’s desire to play for their national teams and hope that Kobe and company bring home the gold, I’m a much bigger Laker fan than I am USA Basketball fan…it’s not even close. That being said, I’d rather Kobe get his surgery earlier and both of them spend the summer resting and preparing themselves better for a healthy and more successful championship run next season, but given that’s not an option one can only hope for the best. I’m sure Phil, Mitch, and Dr. Buss all feel the same.

Didn’t we all know this was the plan? And even if we didn’t I trust Kobe to be in great shape and ready to ball training camp or no training camp. He’s proven he as professional as it gets. You will never hear him say something as dumb as, “I got hurt on company time, so I’ll rehab on company time.” Unlike that fat, lazy, retarded a**hole Shaquille.

This better be worth it. Anything short of a gold metal isn’t worth delayed surgery and possible time out next season.
