Everybody Loves Sun Yue

If some of you don’t know me, I really want to see Yue in a Lakers uniform next season. Why? ‘Cause most analyst are comparing him to Magic Johnson, thats why! Well, the asian Magic Johnson, to be exact. So whose with me?! Sound-off… Do it, Mitch!

L.A. Times: They are also keeping tabs on 6-foot-8 Chinese guard Sun Yue, whom they took last year with the 40th pick.

“We’re very optimistic that we can get him on the roster next year,” Kupchak said. “I’ll contact his agent this week and have some initial discussions.”

I can’t wait for Sun Yue to make his debut!

  3. Gravatar Icon 3 Machinehead18

Ive watched all of his highlights and he looks like the real deal.

  4. Gravatar Icon 4 BringDFishBack

And he fits into the lineup where? I love how everyone wants the Lakers to get all these players but they fit no where into the lineup.

  5. Gravatar Icon 5 kb24 4life

i dont know much about him
but everybody is saying he is a sensation
i think it would be better to have him
instead of coby, dj, newble.. although i love
when those guys play… i really enjoy when the
benchwarmer players get the chance to play out there..
    i think everybody does…

  6. Gravatar Icon 6 KindSIr

    Do it Mitch!

  7. Gravatar Icon 7 ICE CREAM MAN

KB24 4LIFE….I think everybody likes to see these bench warmers play is because this means the lakers blew out the opposing team. I love to see those guys play, especially Coby =)

Another note, I am curious to see how Sun Yue does here. I mean he can’t be any worse than Fluke. At least with him on the floor, someone will have to guard him and not leave him to double Kobe because he might go to the hole and either pass or shoot. With Fluke, he would shoot a brick from the corner or go up for a shot looking for contact when there is none and miss the layup all together.

Is Sun Yue even ready for the aggressive NBA lifestyle though?

I hope it’s not gonna be like like Yao Ming who took several years to get comfortable.

Third string PG behind Fisher and Farmar. He’ll get few minutes, but he can get his feet wet in the NBA.

    lol . . .

Jalen Rose was the next Magic Johnson
Lamar Odom was the next Magic Johnson
Penny Hardaway was the next Magic Johnson
JR Rider was the next Michael Jordan
    Harold Miner was Baby Jordan
The list goes on and on . . .

This kid’s softness tag is a step beyond that of a Euro - he’s Chinese . . . we haven’t seen soft yet!!!

ROFL - with the usual get X b/c the grass is always greener

Sun Yue is gonna be our next starting point guard

  12. Gravatar Icon 12 LD2k

Personally, I say one more year. Fish will be around 35 right?

It was Grant Hill who was really touted as the next Magic. He was somewhat on his way until all of the injuries. Had he stayed healthy he would have more triple doubles than Kidd and been the first Duke player to be a real superstar in the NBA. But even with all of that there was and will only be ONE TRUE MAGIC PERIOD!!

  14. Gravatar Icon 14 daboss1848

richtown, any tall guy that could handle the ball was touted as Magic and any athletic dunker was touted as MJ . . .

lol- funny to think this Chinese kid who could probably be posted up by Mike Penberthy is highly anticipated

  15. Gravatar Icon 15 laker fans are myopic

ICECREAM MAN = when our subs are in its good because we are blowing the other team out .. or it could be the fakers are getting KILLED . see game 6 of the finals

ENOUGH OF THE FOREIGN PLAYERS…WE NEED PLAYERS WHO ARE DEFENSIVELY MINDED…READY TO BANG!!!!!

  17. Gravatar Icon 17 LAKERMANFAN

I have not seen this player yet, any chance to make the bench stronger is a plus. After playing a long season giving the starters as much rest during the season will a make a big difference in the post season.

dont be hatin on yun sue he could beat the usa olympic team, he already owned melo

If this fool is 6′8″, have him play SF, that’s where we need help. Also, we have too many players, we have 14, 12 if we get rid of Mbenga and Karl, that means we have to put two players on the IL. They’re not going to put Mihm on there, so someone is going to have to sit. They’re not going to sit Luke or Vladamir with the salaries they’re getting. Nor Mihm because he is a backup center, or Sasha or Turiaf, our team can’t change much. We already have Joe Crawford if they sign him, and if we are looking for any FA we won’t get any since we have too many players.

Man,this is BORING just like the draft,I’M JUST HATIN’ CRAPPY ARTICLES RIGHT NOW!I wanna here some Artest rumors then this CRAP.Did Vlad get traded?Did Luke?Anybody interested in a Vlad and Newble for…….come to think about it…WHY IN THE $%#@ AM i EVEN COMMENTING,TRADES DON’T START UNTIL NEXT WEEK,HELL YEAH!!!!

    Lots of Potential

  23. Gravatar Icon 23 ICE CREAM MAN

When we do get players that bang bodies they don’t score (kwame brown) This dude would bang but could not score.

  24. Gravatar Icon 24 b0it0i

i agree, bring in sun yue and play him at sf (backup to odom)
his shot isn’t great, but it’s decent
    he can handle and pass.
the only negative is his strength. indeed he will probably be soft
but on defense, with him actually being a point gaurd, he can play decent defense on the opposition’s sf around the perimeter.
if the opposition’s sf drives or posts up on sun yue, we have two 7 footers on the weakside help

lakers need to drop coby karl, and newble
and most likely joe crawford will be on injured reserve and play in the d league

You want to bring back Kwame and Cook. Those brothers????

  27. Gravatar Icon 27 DCLAKER

No Pietrus and Sun Yue,Those brothers(GO HARD).

  28. Gravatar Icon 28 David Togawa

Yeh, I want Mitch to sign Sun Yue he will be a good addition to the Lakers looking forward to seeing him play in the Olympics.

  29. Gravatar Icon 29 ICE CREAM MAN

If Sun Yue does ok against team USA then by all means bring him. That will be a very good measuring stick for him and the rest of us.

  30. Gravatar Icon 30 SUN_YUE

HE IS THE NEXT MANU GINOBLI…THE 6 MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!

    WE NEED HIM!!!!!!!!!!

  31. Gravatar Icon 31 sclakerfan

I heard that he won’t even be the starting guard for the Chinese National Team, and has only been getting limited minutes so we may not see him much against team USA. He’s definitely NOT a Chinese Magic Johnson. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think he’s the second coming of anyone. I have a feeling that he’s going to make Smush Parker look like CP3.

  32. Gravatar Icon 32 Joaquin

For the little I´ve seen of him, he´s good, but he isn´t as good. Besides that I want him in Lakers; he will be a very important time at the time to open Lakers merchadising to Asia.
