Sun Yue to join Lakers for ‘09-’10 season

I know a lot of people are eager to see the impressive point guard. Mitch recently spoke and believes he will be a Laker for the 2009-2010 season. Also, he will compete in the Olympics this year for his national team!

Press Enterprise: The Lakers used one of their second-round picks last year to draft China’s Sun Yue, a 6-8 point guard. Kupchak said the Lakers saw Sun play this season and are optimistic he’ll be on their 2009-10 roster. Sun is playing for China’s national team.

“He is a player that we are intrigued in,” Kupchak said. “We think he has the talent to play at the NBA level.”

This is pretty good news. I’ll be VERY interested in watching him play for his team in the Olympics.

I’d love for him to be a huge part of their success (until/if they run into team USA).

Our future is looking very good.

is there a chance he would play this season?

Doubt it. I was always saying next season (refering to the 09-10 season). It gets to the point where Fisher will need to play reduced minutes (he’ll be what, 35… 36?) and it’ll be the time Farmar develops into our starting PG with Yue/Fish backing him up,

    THANK YOU, BABY JESUS!!!

Lakers can’t trade next years pick becuase they already traded this years and 2010 pick to memphis for gasol

just get rid of newble and coby

  12. I thought this is old news. If this move goes through, I’m guessing the Lakers are trying to minimize Fisher’s minutes (and save him for crunch time).

It makes a lot more sense than bringing him for 08-09. In 09-10 Fish will be 36 starting the season and I believe that is the last year on his current contract. Sun can sit on the bench a full year and just learn the triangle. I think the Lakers are thinking Fish will not be back the following year and Farmar will be the starter with Sun backing him up.

yea but we traded the second round pick not the first pick.
