This is interesting. Looks like the Lakers will stand pat for now. Perhaps resign Sasha/Turiaf and call it an off-season? For now…
RGJ.com: Marcelus Kemp is close to a deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, his agent said Tuesday.
Kemp, a former Nevada shooting guard, was not selected in the NBA draft last week.
“We haven’t closed on a deal,” agent John Grieg said. “We are essentially headed that route with the Lakers, but I really can’t discuss it at the moment.”
Grieg said a deal should be finalized in the next 10 days to two weeks.
“The Lakers have liked him and have been watching him for a while,” Grieg said. “They’re feeling fortunate to get him where they have, in a sense. He’ll leave on Sunday to head to L.A. to begin his journey.
“He fits in with their kind of style. The triangle (offense) is a multipurpose guard format. I think he can fit in well with that.”
Grieg said Kemp, who is from Seattle and did not immediately return a call seeking comment, made a strong impression on NBA teams.
“I think Marcelus has done an excellent job representing himself on a professional basis,” he said. “That carries a lot of weight with teams. His maturity and poise as a sixth-year senior, that carries a lot of weight with them. He should be proud of that.”

NO!!!!!! I rather sign JOe CrAwForD
JOe CrAwForD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>MaRcElUs KemP
Everyone relax, this guy will play for our summer league team, come to camp and most likely get cut, if it turns out he is decent then so be it.
Sounds like he has very little upside. He’ll probably end up in Europe. With NBA teams having so many scouts, there’s a good reason the draft is only 2 rounds. I think the list of good undrafted NBA players is only about 2-3 players long.
I thought it was Shawn Kemp from the headline at first. WHEW
wat is UP WITH ALL THESE GUARDS?????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ITS SAD CUZ I DON’T THINK MITCH KNOWS WHAT OUR TEAM TRULY LACKS, WHICH IS A FREAKING DEFENSIVE SF!!
WE DONT NEED ANYMORE GUARDDSS!!!! DAMMMNIT!
me too haha i was like wtf
Just what we need - another body to park next to Coby Karl, Newble, Mbenga and Mihm.
Way to go Mitch Clouseau.
mitch is signing him jus 4 a trade with the kings for ron artest(maybe)
our next kobe? we need someone to train under kobe to take over after him.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=11202
its a camp invite - a camp invite - just a camp invite - there will be more of these camp invites - in order to have a summer league u need to have a summer team, the only way to get a summer team is to have summer team invites - so hes a summer team invite - a camp invite, a camp invite
get it?
a camp invite!!
just a camp invite
I don’t think people get it daboss xD. It’s Mitch’s job to explore all potentials under management’s capabilities. It’s funny how last season we saw very little different rumors (as if no progress was being made) and Mitch was criticized. Now, there are many rumors and he’s still criticized xD.
CHAMPIONSHIP!!! LOL
Who da f… is Kemp???
Yawn…..camp fodder
cmon..do we really need this guy?
Yeah at first i thought it was Shawn Kemp. Maybe it is one of his 35 kids with 18 women???
I guess what Mitch is trying to do is getting ready for what might happen. I guess he’s getting replacements if Sasha ever leaves. Or maybe the reason he’s signing replacements is to kind of put pressure on Sasha to sign back with us. But I hope Sasha comes back.
I just hope he’s not the Smush Parker type of guy.
dido, but Shawn Hemp was gonna sign with us a couple years ago
haha this comment reminds me of allen iverson saying practice like 25 times in his little interview a few years back. its just practice, practice, just practice…LOL!!
This is a wast of time even think about this dude!!!!!!!!!
Summer League games are actually kinda fun. I went when we first got Turiaf and Bynum and saw them both play, they both got me pretty excited for the Lakers. Drew had a nice inside game, grabbed boards and scored points. Turiaf was a pure energy guy. In short, it gave a pretty accurate picture of what to expect. Even Smush was there, and he was okay… Haha, I will say though that Von Wafer had a thunderous dunk, and we all know how that turned out…
