It’s all good news for Bynum!

Very excellent news to hear! Now do your job, Mitch. And sign him!

O.C. Register: Andrew Bynum did indeed receive medical clearance from doctors Thursday and will begin training in earnest by mid-July. His agent, David Lee, said the Lakers center did not have any pain or swelling in his surgically repaired left knee and will be ready to go by training camp in October.

No way would they go for extension if his knee wasn’t a sure-bet.

    I think it’ll be good news :)

good news on knee + extension signed 3 yrs, with 4th yr player option for 40 mil

  6. Gravatar Icon 6 LAKing

I hate these stupid agents, they can screw up the entire career of their clients. It really wouldn’t feel right to give Bynum that much money. I think it’s best to give him a short-term deal for now to see how he progresses after his injury, then later on by all means give him a MAX deal.

We NEED Bynum, but not for a max contract at this point.. he has potential, but we need to see how his knee reacts first..hopefully they can negotiate..

Hopefully it will be that a freak accident during surgery caused him to gain super human strength……… or I could settle for the fact that his knee is in good shape.

I say the good news is bynum is returning to L.A and that he dunked on kobe so his knee is better!!!Now {Profanity isn't allowed on theLakersNation.com -- Please go back and edit your comment. Thank you.} lakersnation!

I don’t think anything bad can happen.

If he announces that his knee is 100% I don’t think that’s big news. Rather it’s expected news.

5 years, $60M is my first thought (maybe player option after the 3rd year), but the Lakers shouldn’t offer him that yet. Let AB prove this year that the knee is fine. If it is, and he produces, then max contract it is, 5 years, $80M.

  22. Gravatar Icon 22 NM8

    wow im scared..

  23. Gravatar Icon 23 LakersFirst

If it’s bad news, it must micro-fracture knee surgery (of course I’m being pessimistic)

  24. Gravatar Icon 24 gus26

his agent can’t be handeling a trade by another player the only other client david lee represents is ariza.. unless he picked up some new ones in the rookie class in which case he would be busy working on those contracts..

  25. Gravatar Icon 25 True Lakers Fan

    i hope its good news!

  27. Gravatar Icon 27 e

pretty surprising that there’s no news from his agent thus far

  28. Gravatar Icon 28 Geloman

This can’t be bad news. Are you kidding me? After all the doctor’s he’s seen and treatments he’s had? No way can this be bad. Probably he started training again at full speed and has had no bad reactions and is 100% ready for full contact and hardcore training again.

  29. Gravatar Icon 29 lakerferlife7

there will be teams willing to pay him that kind of money…..and this article doesnt mean shiit

  30. Gravatar Icon 30 Geloman

It would be all over the news if it were bad. Probably some unimportant blogger trying to make headlines or draw attention to his blog site.

Hey guys, I got some insider information on his knee. Whether you believe me or not I don’t care but I will put it out there. One of my friends is an orthopedic in connecticut who saw Andrew Bynum. According to him, the surgery that Bynum needs is a very risky surgery that no orthopedic want’s to take the risk in doing. His last clean up surgery that was called a “success” by the Lakers wasn’t the actual surgery he needed but just to clean up the area. According to him Bynum will never be the same.

Hopefully he’s wrong, but we’ll find out soon enough.

Won’t believe it til I hear from a reliable source.

  33. Gravatar Icon 33 Michael_23

If he needs a serious surgery hopefully we can take Amare Stoudimire’s surgery and become inspired.

But Penny Hardaway and Allen Houston had it, and they were never the same. Let’s hope the best for Drew.

And so the Lakers and Drew were basically lying to the public that he would start training in early July and be at ready to go full speed by training camp.

Wow, that would be a huge, flagrant lie to all the Laker fans out there.

Does anyone really want to rely on an ortho in Connecticut. That is the heart of Celtic country. Bynum is OK. I have done a look see and no where have I found anyone talking or writing about this story. I could have missed it but this is a huge story if true and no one on the radio is discussing it. I could have missed it but I think someone has their wires crossed.

i hope i am wrong to in order to save the FO money and secure other players but usually as you have found out when discussing things you have the market on wrong ideas. You again riding boss and seeking approval. I am going to talk to your Daddy(boss48) and say to him to loosen the ropes or better yet dump you out of his nest and forcing you to fly solo. That is how you will get your wings.

Also, remember if you feel you have to have others with you in your opinion you really don’t have an opinion. You have a person who is afraid to stand alone.
