This is great news. I’ve always hated Posey but hes one of those guys you need on your team. He hustles on defense and hes a great spot up shooter.

The Celtics are denying that they made an offer to Corey Maggette, but they are not denying contact with Maggette, who has already confirmed discussions with the Celtics. Why are the C’s distancing themselves from Maggette? It did not sit well with James Posey, who was labeled the Celtics top off-season priority. The Celtics did make an offer to Posey that was far less than the full boat median exception he has been offered from other teams, leaving Posey feeling unwanted.

If this is true it’s AMAZING news. I woudl much rather have Posey than Artest. Posey fits in perfectly with what we need. Sign him to the full MLE for 3 years (he’s to old to give 5 years). Then I’d make the starting lineup either Fish, Kobe, Posey, Gasol, Bynum OR…….. Fish, Kobe, Posey, Odom, Gasol. Either way…. we need Posey in the starting 5 to spread the floor.

i say the best thing to do is re-sign sasha and ronny, then try and go after 1 of the 3, either maggette, artest, or posey.
my choice would be
1. maggette: right across the locker room and sounds sensible
2. artest: i know artest should be #1 but whats the possibility the kings send him our way and without odom in the deal, i would rather keep LO
3. posey: unless he decides to stay or go with another team

There is a retired Laker that reminds me of Posey, and ironically he too came to the Lakers from the Celtics. Rick Fox. Their games are similar. Fox was the intense guy off the bench who was not afraid to mix it up. He was also a plus on offense. Posey would fit in as a Laker. No more need be said. If the Celtics are going to under value this guy, the Lakers need to take advantage and sign him. Then if Sasha goes elsewhere it won’t hurt as much.

As of right now, Posey is a player that fits in better with the Celtics than the Lakers because of his style. You see, sometimes teams count on players to have the greatest effects on them, so they think that going out to get a proven veteran will solve the problem. Wrong. Each team must learn how to use each player according to his styles to give the best results to the team. You can’t just sign a player that was good for another team and expect him to be good for your fav team. Same with Posey. Just Cuz he looks great with the Celts, doesn’t mean he’s gonna be good with the Lakers. The Lakers to have to adjust to take advantage of his skills. Figure out the best way to use his strengths.
I personally don’t think that a player like Posey will have the most effects on the Laker due to Phil Jackson’s style. PJ doesn’t emphasize defense much and the triangle is weird, so every time the Lakers get a player and think he’s gonna be good, that doesn’t turn out to be true because they don’t adjust to the players. Instead of adjustin to them, LA is a team that waits for players to adjust to it. Bad =(.

It would be great if Posey signed with the Lakers. We would have him for 5 years and he could guard Pierce. The person we don’t want is Maggette who isn’t that good anyway and isn’t much better than Trevor Ariza.

James Posey will be a great addition to the lakers, but i really think that Ron Artest will be the perfect fit. Artest can score and defend,he can be in the starting line-up. I love L.O. but he’s time is up. It’s time to bring the glory back here in L.A..
