Bynum ready to play again

Pasadena Star News: Lakers center Andrew Bynum is set to begin his off-season workouts next week in the heat and humidity of Atlanta, more than six months after suffering a season-ending left kneecap injury during a game against the Memphis Grizzlies.

Sean Zarzana, Bynum’s personal trainer, said Tuesday afternoon that they would begin off-season workouts “pretty much full bore” next week. There was no lingering pain or inflammation in Bynum’s kneecap, Zarzana added.

Bynum is eligible starting today to sign a contract extension worth as much as $80 million over five seasons. How aggressively the Lakers pursue a new deal with the 20-year-old could depend on how quickly he rebounds from his injury.

He underwent surgery May 21 to clear out cartilage debris and smooth out rough spots behind the kneecap. Dr. David Altchek performed the 30-minute procedure in New York. Last week, Altchek cleared Bynum to resume his workouts without restriction.

Bynum and Zarzana were in New York on Tuesday, completing Bynum’s rehabilitation exercises. But they planned to leave for Atlanta in the next few days.

Bynum, if you can read this then pay attention. If you want a major contract then WORK OUT HARD!!! Come in to training camp with the attitude that you are the Center of the West Coast. Keep in mind that the Rookie center in Portland has something to prove.

Bulk up, get ready to bang bodies and bang on dudes faces, raise your legs when you dunk and try to bring the house down after every dunk ALA Shaq and I garantee you will be worth every penny. You might even be the starting center of the West allstar game.

Bogut’s extension sets the bar pretty high, and Bynum is definitely worth at least $2 million more per season than Bogut, which would put him at the max. I’m not saying Bynum deserves the max, more that Bogut is worth nowhere near $14 mil per year, but this deal definitely gives Bynum’s agent leverage in asking for the max.

lakersfan567……did bynum tell u this himself!!!!!??????……of course he wants a big contract cause he knows hes worth it and that what is gnna happen!

Hmmm, perhaps it is a good idea to see his workouts and see how he performs. Sign him now and lock him in because he’s going to be worth more as time goes by.

His potential is still great. If he can develop to a 50 percent Kareem and 50 percent Shaq, he’s going to be unstoppable. Then again he doesn’t need to score because Kobe and Pau are pure scorers.

Bynum can just gobble up all their misses and put them back in or catch lobs and dunk them in.

hes already asking for max . . . cant be “worth” anymore

Technically you are correct, however like when you hire a lawyer you will take the advice of the lawyer becuz you rely on his expertise. Same way with Bynum, he is relying on his agents expertise and then gives his ok. The agent is driving negotiations with final approval ultimately in Bynum’s hands.
