Lakers ticket prices increase… again
L.A. Times: The Lakers increased ticket prices across the board for a third consecutive season, a relatively unsurprising action after the team paid almost $5 million in luxury taxes on last season’s payroll and faced a larger tax hit next season.
Courtside seats were raised from $2,300 to $2,500 a game, an 8.7% hike that moved beyond the typical annual increase of 4.5%.
Seats in six lower-level sections between the baskets — 101, 102, 110, 111, 112 and 119 — were raised from $230 to $245, a 6.5% increase that also topped the team’s normal action on such seats.
The league average for ticket-price increases is usually 3% to 4%.
Other tickets in the lower bowl at Staples Center will be $210, $147, $110, and $85, increases of 4.8% to 6.3%.
Tickets in the upper bowl were raised slightly to $40 or $28, not including 500 seats that are a league-mandated $10.

Man, how do people get courtside season tickets. Those are freakin amazingly expensive.

I don’t care if they raise the courtside tickets to $10,000 a game. Even at those rates, there will be a 10 year wait to get those seats. The same for the other seats in the middle of the court several rows back. As long as the Lakers are winning, they will sell out. I’ve NEVER been able to get those seats anyway other than from scalpers so the Lakers should just earn what the scalpers are making off the Lakers. Then maybe they could afford to not worry about the luxury tax. In 2004, I paid $200 each to a season ticket holder who scalped me his $35 tickets. It was even hard to get it at that price. The Lakers are stupid for not selling the tickets for what they’re really worth!

supply and demand! as long as the lakers are still one of the hottest tickets in town, they can keep rising up the ticket prices.
I’m a season ticket holder, and I saw my invoice go up as well. Luckily, I made some coin last season selling some games, so I’m actually not paying much.
They better win 60 games !
To put it in perspective, the Lakers can actually really depend on the ticket prices to take them under the luxury tax. They’ll be quite fine. Here is what a friend and floor-season ticket holder said about it:

They should have kept all the other prices and jacked up the court-side seat prices. Why? Big time celebrities usually buy those seats and they’re all multimillionaires anyways.
This doesn’t apply to me since I watch Lakers via TV (b/c I live in Canada), but I feel bad for those who do pay for season tickets -.-.
