Agent: Posey near decision, Lakers not in mix, Posey to NO?

Unfortunately, James Posey is near a deal and it doesn’t involve the Lakers. Here is the latest on the 2x world champ and free agent:

FanNation: Celtics forward James Posey’s agent, Mark Bartelstien, said Sunday that there could be “something” contract-wise for his client on Monday. Bartelstien would not divulge the interested teams, but an NBA source said that the Hornets seem to be Boston’s main competition. The Celtics seem willing to give Posey the full $5.5 mid-level exception, but it seems doubtful that it will be offered more than two years. The 31-year-old seems interested in getting a four-year deal. Other teams potentially interested in Posey include Detroit, Washington and Cleveland.

if this is perhaps true, then the lakers are probably focusing on acquiring artest..after all if we get artest, we will have a legit sf back up in trevor ariza (esp if he works on his three pt shot)

It would be crazy if we can get Artest without giving up Odom, but even if we do give up Odom we would still have a good line-up, with Bynum coming back, Odom’s scoring would go down and he would be getting 7-9 rebounds a game.

    PG - Fisher
    SG - Kobe
    SF - Artest
    PF - Gasol
    C - Bynum

exactly and if odom isnt scoring, or if his rebounding isnt necessary anymore since pau and bynum will already dominate the boards then why would we want to be so conservative about involving lamar in this trade…its not like his defensive presence will be something we’ll miss
