Joe McDonnell of our partners over at AM570 radio reports that the Lakers did not match Ronny Turiaf’s offer. More details to come.
Thank you for all your dedication and heart, Mr. Turiaf! We appreciate all you did for us and we’ll never let YOU leave OUR hearts.
ESPN: With great reluctance, the Los Angeles Lakers decided at Friday’s deadline they wouldn’t match Golden State’s offer for Ronny Turiaf, meaning the former second-round draft choice will move up the California coast to play for the Warriors.
ESPN.com’s J.A. Andande first reported the Lakers would not match the offer.
“There are emotional ties with Ronny that go beyond basketball,” Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak said on a conference call. “I think that makes it difficult. I think organizations that draft players who turn out to be good players, it’s hard for them to let go of those players. And if you know Ronny, you know he’s a special kid.”
The Warriors signed Turiaf, a restricted free agent, to a four-year, $17 million offer sheet last week. By rule, the Lakers had seven days to decide whether to match it. The three-year veteran from Gonzaga averaged 6.6 points and 3.9 rebounds in 78 games with the Western Conference champions last season, making 21 starts.
Lakers will aim to sign Vujacic, Turiaf
Lakers play waiting game with Sasha and Turiaf
UPDATE: Lakers have until Friday afternoon to match Turiaf’s offer; haven’t yet
Kobe Bryant: Sad to See Ronny Turiaf Go
Lakers deciding on Turiaf, then perhaps go after Artest?

So Ronnie’s stayin?
no ronny is goin to the warriors…
well i wanna say thanks for everything… good luck…
ima miss his dancing b4 the game during the game and even after when we won…. thank u for wat u have done
Ronny…all I can say is the you got a ton of dedication to the sport, he has a huge heart (despite the fact he almost lost it), good attitude, isn’t stubborn, and he’s just basically one of those key locker rom player you just need to re-sign/keep…hopefully you’re happy wherever you are man…
Interesting to see how the Lakers replace him in the line up. Should be exciting….Stay Tune
We’ll always remember you Ronny. Seeing you scream “SASHA!!!” when he hits a three and the celebrations after a teammate dunks the ball will always be in our hearts.
Well
lets see how this causes other things to pan out
Ronny, bye bye!
We love you. But when you said, you don’t think rebounding would be the difference against the Celtics, oh, did I lose a little bit of respect?
So embarrassing to hear that from you.
FYI: Every nine of Phil Jackson’s championship teams are very good rebounding teams. Good defensive teams as well and they play as a team.
bye ronny much love to you good luck wherever you end up and hopefully you can return were you belong on the lakers in the future.
Bye ronny thanks for everything you have done
p.s you could o stayed 1 more year and won a championship but I guess you need money well later ronny we will see you again in the regular season.
good point thats why we should bring in the ultimate team player in stephon marbury hes known around the league as a great guy
good point thats why we should bring in the ultimate team player in stephon marbury hes known around the league as a great guy
did well here..i guess its just time to let go
It’s just a matter of time that Ronny is on his way North. He will always be a LAKERS WARRIOR. I am gonna miss the bench celebrations and dances. Best wishes, we’ll see you 4x a year.
Bon Chance!
well good luck ronny, personally you were my 3rd favorite laker just behind kobe and pau, i will always be your fan wherever you are…
why in the world are you guys thanking this fool, after the lakers organization stayed with him through heart surgery, this guy leaves a team where he was loved for money. True *expletive*
Ronny is one of the few players that I truly respect in the NBA. His comeback from heart surgery to play for the Lakers is one of the best Laker stories I have seen, next to the Lakers beating the Celtics in Boston back in 1985 and Magic’s comeback in 1995.
If anyone deserves the money, it is Turiaf. He gave a lot to the Lakers that don’t always show up in the stat sheet.
If I had the $17 million, I’d give Buss the cash but I’m sure that would violate some rule in the CBA.
Ronny will always be a Laker, no matter what is on the front of his jersey.
CHA-CHING!
Great enforcer, great cheerleader, great story and seems like a great guy. Not worth what the Lakers would have to pay. Good luck, Ronny.
Turiaf will be a laker for life. Its great to see him succeed. Good luck in the future.
Too bad we can’t flush Smush Walton and use his money to keep Ronny. Vlad is another one worth flushing. What a tragedy we are stuck with these two piles of manure and we lose Ronny.
great point. i was about to bring that up. i would rather have turiaf than walton and radman. to me, he is worth more to the team than both of them put together
I’m disappointed. Everyone mentions how they use to love it when he danced which I agree with but his defense is so much better than Pau. Pau is so soft and cries to the refs about everything. Ronnie was all about heart and intensity.
When a person/employee works his heart and azz off, he deserves a raise. In his case a very good raise. The lakers insurance covered the surgery, Turiaf signed a small contract and he honored it. Now that other teams saw his work ethic, they decided to give him a raise. No shame in that game!
Hell I want to see some one turn down a job that pays you 10x/hr what you are making now. You’ll be a FOOL if you did.
Au revoir, mon ami.
Now I’m PISSED!!
Would you guys get off his jock already. He was a backup that played sparingly and took the big money and get rid of that ridiculous accent, your black and need to represent!!!!!
Put the pipe down,son.
Farewell Ronny….have fun up in Nor*Cal
Ronny, we’ll miss you, thanks for all the good times. Now, let’s bring in Artest!!!!!!!!
Best of luck Ronny!!!!!!!!!!
The contract is not official until midnight tonight. Im not getting my news from the fat man on KLAC.
First of all your name disgusts me you trash. Second of all black men in other countries actually have accents! Damn you’re smart.
This makes me SAD. Ronny is one of my favorite Lakers. BIG LOSS.
John Barry Sux is the only one to get this right.
Lakers have until midnight tonight to match.
Luxury Tax is measured at end of upcoming season, so if Lakers think they can shed salary during season, they may resign him.
If Lakers plan on getting Artest, Turiaf is taking the 5 north at 150 per.
Bye predator you will be missed!
tYRUS tHOMAS! cHARLIE vILLANUEVA!Somebody..ANYBODY WANNA BE A LAKER!I can’t stand that we have THE BEST PLAYER ON THE PLANET and we can’t get 1 player that wants a ‘Chip or help this team win,I’M GETTIN’WORRIED!
The only Laker that showed any manhood against the Smeltics is now gone. Hopefully Odom learned from you to put them on the floor when they try to go to the basket and don’t help them up!

Ok so now its official. You will be missed.
looks like the warrior crusher is now a warrior helper
Maybe we needed to lose a Ron to gain another Ron??
lets look at the positives…Mitch said that Andrew IS cleared and IS ready to roll…
This reminds me of a day a few years ago when another fan favorite left LA to go to Golden State. One can only hope the ending is the same. Either way, best of luck in GS. I can’t blame Ronny for taking the money, but I can get made at the Warriors. Looks like we now have 3 rivals in the Pacific Division.
i guess business is business at the end, but will definitely miss him
DAMN!Ronny is gone,UNBELIEVABLE!
You made this past season, for us, Laker fans one of the best EVER!
LO also put Rondo on the floor so get it straight!!!
Take the 1 north much better scenery
I have a feeling he’ll be back.
HE’LL BE BACK……BELIEVE
