Kobe's Circus Shot

Kobe Optimistic for Vujacic’s Return

L.A. Times: Sasha Vujacic, the reserve guard nicknamed “The Machine” because of his proclivity for cranking up shots, is, like Ronny Turiaf, a restricted free agent.

Vujacic has yet to come back to the Lakers with an offer sheet and, in recent days, General Manager Mitch Kupchak has been negotiating with Rob Pelinka, Vujacic’s agent, about a new contract.

“I’m optimistic that we can re-sign Sasha,” Kobe Bryant said. “We definitely should. He’s turned into a fantastic player for us and I would hate to see us lose two of our key guys off the bench.”

Bryant’s optimism may be bolstered by more than just hope since he and Vujacic have the same agent.

Sasha says, “I machine. I try to find contract. No one want me. I change agent. Still no big offers. Mitch says he want me. I am very valuable. Why no one offer me mle? I cry. More than when Ray allen blow by me. Hopefully Mitch offer me Ronny type money. Then I play for Lakers. Then Machine happy. More than if Paris Hilton touch my mechanical parts. Go Machine!!!!

Why dont the lakers resign the machine then try to do a sign and trade for luol deng or josh smith, their teams dont look like they are going to resign them

  19. nyla says:

I’d give him 3.5 or 4. I think 5 is a little much, considering that he can be inconsistent. Sash can’t get a better deal while still having a shot at a title like he has with the Lakers. Come on, Sasahaaaa!

In the NBA, the yearly salary of traded players have to be within 25% of each other. For example, if I trade a player that makes $10M in the upcoming year, I have to get back a player(s) that makes at least $7.5M.

With that said, Deng and Josh Smith are players that want and would get larger contracts on other teams (currently they are restricted free agents, which means their current teams can match their offers). For example, Josh Smith wants something in the $10M/year range. For a sign and trade to happen with Josh Smith, the Lakers would have to sign Sasha to at least a $7.5M for next year, and the other team has to be willing to take Sasha and his $7.5M contract?

Is Sasha really worth $7.5M a year?? Don’t think so. That is why the sign and trade scenario you talked about can’t happen.

Drop The Machine and lets get back to beefing up OUR soft LAKERS. Sasha was shot was not on when we needed and I would shake him out of LA for either a more physical player or consistant.

    bring back the MACHINE!!!

08 your critique could be highly questionable becuz of all the times i schooled you on the shoutbox. As far as the agent is concerned sasha did change agents because his other one didn’t do his job and we all know sasha cries.

y does everyone bitcch like little schoolgirls on this site……STFU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  32. Daryl Imhoff says:

Patience, there is time to sign Sasha. If Sasha wanted to play in Europe he would have stayed there. I hate using the Celtics as an example, but they are the Champs, and last year they did not complete their roster until late in the summer. The Lakers will do their best to sign Sasha. The Lakers are not the Hawks.

  33. 123KID says:

dude whats up with europe all of sudden poppin up on the scene trying to get our nba players. thats ridiculous! i think if you think about it, that 50 million dollars at europe is prolly nothing due to how expensive everything is up there.
