I have been reading some of the posts by the Lakers fans and all of you nuts are crazy. In my opinion, Kobe is the best player in the league but the Lakers still won’t be worth a damn next season either. What in your opinion made the Lakers so great this year? They beat up on a Nuggets team who couldn’t play as a team. They won a series against the Jazz who are a up and coming team. And they beat an old, slow Spurs team to get to the Finals. But once they met a real team in the Finals, you saw the real Lakers; a one man show with a mediocre supporting cast. And I must say that they got their butts handed to them each game. L.A. needed to jump to a big lead in the first quarter to even be close by the fourth quarter. When they didn’t get that big lead, they were blown out in those games. My two cents…I’m a Celtics fan, have been for over 20 years now. Paul Pierce is wrong. It’s good to have confidence, but he’s bordering on arrogance. He’s got two players next to him that are better than he is, one of them who redefined what it is to be a power forward in Kevin Garnett.
Personally, I can’t stand Kobe Bryant. I think he’s arrogant and selfish, (going back to the whole thing with Shaq having to leave a Laker team that could still be churning out titles if Kobe could stand someone else scoring some points and getting some spotlight other than himself).
I also think Kobe Bryant is over rated, and always has been. He is no Michael Jordan, never has been. Michael Jordan is the greatest player to ever play the game, and probably always will be. There are simply no comparisons. Larry Bird has always been my man, but as much as I loved the guy, you got to be honest, Jordan was, and always will be the best.
But is Paul Pierce better than Kobe? Well in these last playoffs, yes. Over all, no probably not. Kobe has the more complete game, and can score more frequently than Paul. Kobe can also get his shot off quicker, and can score in bunches, where Paul has a harder time accomplishing that.
And during the regular seasons Kobe’s Lakers were better than Paul’s Celtics without the help that the two teams would ultimately receive to put them in the finals last year.
Paul’s great, Kobe’s better, both are headed to the Hall of Fame. Comparison’s are by nature fleeting, as they’ll never play 1 on 1, but I guess it’s fun to speculate.
I may be a fan of the Celtics, but I don’t agree with Pierce’s statement, but I don’t think that such a big deal should be made about it. Celebritites in general have made dumb statements, done dumb things, and all that but they can’t take it back.
Besides, we all now that Kobe could own Pierce. The Celtics just had a better roster (in my opinion). Maybe next time they meet in the finals then the outcome might be different. Who know. Until the name face-off.
I don’t think Kobe is the best player in the world. He is a great player one of the best but I don’t think he’s the best. Paul Pierce is just as good, but because of a loosing team no one wants to say that. All you have to do is look at his stats and look at Kobe’s. 1) When the Lakers got knocked out in the playoffs in the first round that year, Kobe had LO and Kwame, not Caron Butler. Shows how stupid you are.
2) The East didn’t have that much competition than and now. Last season all it was the Celtics and Pistons, the 3rd place Magic would’ve barely made the playoffs in the West. Again, shows how stupid you are.

Magic won finals MVP one year the Lakers lost to the Bulls. Pierce is better than Kobe,…….when he needs to be. Kobe stood between he and the championship and so elevated his game to eliminate Kobe. Kobe’s game is incredible, only not against Pierce in the finals, and that is when you are judged as a man.
