now that miami has michael beasley, who will most likely start for them at power forward, i think the heat should trade udonis haslem to the lakers for vladimir radmanovic because they lack a good shooter except for james jones.
it looks as if houston will probably acquire artest sooner or later. although highly unlikely, i wish the lakers could trade radmanovic to houston for shane battier straight up.
the lakers can also look to make a trade with charlotte for nazr mohammed. both players have identical contracts with the same number or years remaining as well. this gives lakers more size at the forward/center backup position.

such a tired subject. i think it was done and final when Phil was asked who is better on the Cannons and he said MJ. The guy coached both and pretty much said what most people say that MJ was smarter and more efficient. This isnt a one on one game so doesnt really matter. I think as Lakers fans we should just drop the subject cuz when this poll question is asked around the nation its always MJ overwhelming and that should just be final. No crying about hating or excuses. Lets be happy we have seen and had some of the greatest players in the NBA wearing Lakers jerseys: West, Wilt, Kareem, Baylor, Worthy, Magic, Shaq, Kobe.
I’d say the closes player right now in the NBA that comes close to the repertoire of moves that Jordan had is Kobe Byrant. That being said, if they were to play a game of basketball 1-on-1, I think Jordan might win slightly over Kobe, but at the same time, I can easily see Kobe winning by a hair too. I mean, both player have that “killer” mentality and are extremely competitive. I don’t think it’d be “no contest,” it’d be close contest. It’s different when a game is 1-on-1 versus 5-on-5 and I think a lot of people are forgetting that Jordan had a lot of great teammates to help free up space for him to move and score.

Kobe had great teammates as well to help him move and score as well so Im not sure what that statement proves. You need help from your teammates to win big. Thats the formula in all sports. I love both players and love kobe, but its hard to ignore all that jordan did and I always say how can kobe be the greatest ever when he is not even the greatest laker ever. Magic holds that crown. Kobe is one of the all time greats, can we just be happy with that and not say ignorant things like how jordan played against a weaker NBA, when it consistented some of the greatest players and teams ever. I just love knowing that the lakers have had the greatest team ever in the showtime lakers and that keeps me satisfied.

I am one of the biggest laker fans around, but Michael Jordan is the best player to have ever played period. They both have the will to win, yet Michaels will made him go undefeated in all 6 of his nba finals.jordan in his prime would have beaten the celtics which kobe lost to. The utah jazz in 97-98 were better then the celtics and jordans bulls who had arguably the greatest team ever went through the jazz twice in 6 games. Does anyone remember jordans 40 something with the flu in utah(one of the toughest places to play), game 5 the pivotal game, and the bulls win. jordan would not have allowed his team to get blown out in game 6 the way kobe’s lakers did.I would take Magic Johnson as the second greatest player better then kobe bryant as well. Someone put up a video of MJ guarding Magic in the finals game 3 or 4 i believe. I could never picture kobe guarding a player like Magic and being successful. A six nine guard. That was the difference in Chicago winning that game. The rules in defending are basically the same in the PO as we saw the toughness needed esp. in the finals. 6 championships (shouldve been 8 straight but whatever), 6 finals mvp, 5 nba mvps. His resume speaks for itself not take anything away from kobe but as of NOW MJ is the greater player, its not about what you can do, its what you do that matters and until kobe starts winning titles he is not at jordans level. 81 pts in a game or 50 pt avg in a month doesnt define a player amongst the greatest its titles. Thats why players like charles barkely or patrick ewing or reggie miller or stockton or malone arent even in the breathe of greats like mj or magic.
As for this one on one thing. Jordans a better team player and Kobe has a slight edge on mj on individually, thats why Id take kobe, you can ask a lot of people Kobe does have the edge on the offensive end and Kobe is a one on one player. Kobe is more gifted on the offensive end. You can be the greatest defender in the world but you cant stop kobe on the offensive end with one player even if it is jordan. Its one on one not five on five. When it comes to one on one, defense wont mean much, the better offense will win and thats kobe.
Kobe never said mj better, all kobe ever said was dont compare. No great player in his right mind would ever say someone can beat them or is better. If kobe answered straight up this question he’d say himself too. Any great player would.
I’m a hardcore Lakers fan. I have something like 85 different Kobe cards including most of his RC’s. I have admired his entire career.
I do not think Kobe would stand a chance one-on-one against Michael. I think Kobe is the spoiled rich kid with nothing to prove, and MJ is the disgruntled kid with a chip on his shoulder. Kobe plays like he is constantly rattled, MJ was never rattled and always had control over the game. I’ve heard many of you say that in the nationwide polls people choose MJ over Kobe (as well as PJ). The reason people like MJ so much is because he was smart when it came to kissing up to the media. I think people get confused with better player and more accomplished player. Sure if we look at the stats and the rings and the MVP’s and all that Jordan would clearly be the best. But lets look deeper then that. The 80’s and 90’s had great players like Barkley, Magic, Bird, Malone and Stockton, but lets be for real the other guys on those teams probably wouldnt last in todays game.
The game today is faster, we have better athletes, and the level of play is just to far above what it is now. Charles Barkley said it in a interview that todays players overall are way better then the ones in the 90’s. Mainly the defense is way more advance.
Jordan never had to face a zone defense or the box and one that kobe had to face in the finals. And even if he did, lets be for real, the Bulls teams in the 90’s had way more talent then any other team in its time. Im sure that the Lakers in ‘01 would beat those Bulls in 5. Sorry, its true.
But if you just watch both of them play, Kobe’s game is so far past Jordan’s
