Lakers officially sign Joe Crawford

Lakers.com: The Los Angeles Lakers have signed guard Joe Crawford, it was announced today. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

Selected by the Lakers with the 58th pick in the 2008 NBA Draft, Crawford, a 22 year-old native of Detroit, Michigan, played four seasons at the University of Kentucky, averaging 11.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 127 games (76 starts).

As a senior, Crawford ranked fourth in the SEC in scoring with a team-high 17.9 points per game, scoring 20-plus points 13 times while topping 30 points on three occasions.

Earning Second Team All-SEC honors from league coaches as a senior, Crawford finished his collegiate career as Kentucky’s 19th all-time leading scorer with 1,438 points while ranking seventh all-time in three-point field goals made (186).

Additionally, the 6’5” Crawford started all six games for the Lakers Summer League entry in Las Vegas this past July, averaging 11.3 points including .455 (5-of-11) shooting from behind the arc, 2.7 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 32.7 minutes.

I think he’ll have his work cut out for him for sure.

    I’m very excited for Yue.

so does this mean theyre on the team or do they still gotta try out….

I don’t think Mitchel is going to make the team. Probably keep Sun yue because of his size and versatility. Probably keep Crawford - albeit d-league (who knows about sun yue, he spent time in the dleague its called cba - well he also played in china which is like the dleague).

why the fu-ck are the Lakers so quick to sign anyone who comes around???

Hmm, that makes the roster at 15. No more roster space to sign more free-agents.

I guess free-agency for the Lakers for the rest of this off-season is over …

now that we have locked up crawford and yue, the roster count should be at 15, the league maximum. they also offered mbenga the mimimum to return. i would hope mbenga signs cause we need insurance of big men and i think the lakers will eventually cut dwayne mitchell.

so the roster would end up looking like this most likely:

    C bynum, mihm, mbenga
    F gasol, powell, radmanovic
    F odom, ariza, walton
    G kobe, vujacic, crawford
    G fisher, farmar, yue

this is perfect for our team, i dont expect anymore big surprises unless mitch is able to pull of something amazing, but im not greedy about it and im more than satisfied with this roster as is. its a deep and well balanced roster. with the return of bynum and ariza, we should be just fine.

I agree I saw him in the summer league and he didn’t impress me at all against inferior competition

I just read that Al Harrington might be open to a trade. Warriors just lost a pg in Ellis with torn ankle. They need a pg, we have a surplus.. Harrington was once Laker talk. Anything possible in the works?

hey guyz, what do you think of this line-up?

    C: BYNUM
    PF: GASOL
    SF: ODOM
    SG: KOBE
    PG: SUN YUE

THE LINE-UP IS VERY TALL WITHOUT SACRIFICING THE QUICKNESS AND DEFENSE WHILE MAXIMIZING OUR OFFENSE.WHAT DO YOU THINK,GUYZ?

crawford will be cut after training camp, along with karl and mitchell. The Lakers are gonna make a blockbuster trade sending Gasol to Minnesota for Mark Madsen + Cash… We need Mad-Dog back on this team because w/o him we won’t win the ’ship like we did back in the day..

Crawford will not be a dud like most of u on here seem to think. You are gonna base a guys NBA career on some summer league games? Do me a favor and look at Derrick Rose summer league stats. Crawford is a winner, and was guarded by the best player if not more than one player every time that KY played a basketball game this year. You Laker fans don’t know isht, that’s why your dumb asses will never win another title. Kobe threw Shaw under the bus when it came to him cheatin on his wife. Real stand-up guy Kobe is a straight biatch and will never win a title do to karma issues.
