Pincus: “One of the other HW writers had a thing on an Odom rumor for Mike Miller/Jason Collins – I wanted to shut that puppy down. It’s not that LA doesn’t like Mike Miller – it’s just that the timing isn’t right for something like that.”
In his new article, he explains…
Hoopsworld: Odom is a valuable trade asset with his expiring contract along with his ability to play five positions. The last thing the Lakers are going to do is rush to cash that chip in – considering they are among the favorites to get to the NBA Finals.

I really like Mike Miller’s game. He would provide outside shooting as well as sound defense, but he’s not good enough to justify losing Odom.

I am gonna say a Maybe… Yes on this. Mike Miller will open the game wide open for the Lakers. He shoots lights out, guarantee!! We have a bunch of SF including Ariza, Powell, Vlady, Fluke and drafts. What I will miss is LO rebounding but, Powell will take some of the slacks. Also Mike is an Olympian right? Its nice to have 2 “MACHINES” just in case one is down or broken. “its all about the hair, dude” say the Machine.
Man I don’t know, mike miller could knock it down about 90% of the time, and collins hmm……. not to familiar with his game. ODOM man most of you guys don’t like him but he helps us out so much that you all don’t even know. For example, cleaning up the glass, an easy to down low, just all around greatness, he can do it all. And plus I like our 3 tours, 7′, 7′, 6′10, PAU, DREW, ODOM. So I wouldn’t pull the trigger on this one.

why would we do this trade now WHEN MEMPHIS OFFERED US LAST YEAR ODOM FOR WARRICK ND MILLER. warrick is a way better than collins, not happening. do you really think mitch wont test out odom bynum and pau? if worst comes to worst and we have to trade odom (which we wont) we can do it after we test them out first. i doubt we trade odom hes too valuable for us.
i really wouldnt mind this trade..afterall the 3 spot is not known to grab rebounds, esp in this system..dont get me wrong, i love odom but i growing really skeptical of him playing at the 3..mike miller works in this system bcuz he’s a shooter but he also plays defense and its that defense that neither odom or radman can offer..i say not a bad deal
Agree with Mike deezy, totally disagree with Shaq 786. I dont know, I do like Mike Miller, Collins is just a big body to fill in. But Odom does SO much. He rebounds, passes, scores (well… mailnly when he uses his left hand. Im not ready to let him go yet, lets see our main lineup stay how it is for now and sign Livingston and see what he got

Give them Vlad Rad or Luke Walton. We can use LO’s expering contract for much better players than Miller and Collins.

I would do this trade in a heartbeat. Miller is a better player than LO and we would get a bonafide backup center. LO plays with no heart and cant hit a jump shot to save his life. Enough with all this give LO another chance shyt… ship his azz out!!!
Mehhhh. I don’t know. I never really digged Millers game. We have a front court that no team can match….so thats a good thing. We’re stacked at the SF spot, and getting Mike Miller will add on to it, and thats a bad thing. Keep LO, not worth it. LO’s talent is one of a kind. We got Ariza at the SF spot and he is a better defender.

we tried that with vlad rad and the organization missed and got an apathetic martian..mike miller would fulfill that spot we wanted
the lakers have enough big bodies, all you really need is pau and bynum give us a shooting threat out there, someone who can spread the offense, in comes miller, you got a pg in whoever, cut and slash mamba, shooting machine in miller, score and get rebounds, block,defend,rebound,dunking machine in bynum. odom would just clog up the middle and messed up our rhythm and flow, there would be more of well round team with miller in the starting line up. think about a starting five w/ LO would give you no real outside shooting cause i can trust LO to hit a shot longer than i can throw him. mike miller would make the starting five deadly. and you gotta respect his shot.

I would give away Vlad Rad, but Vlad is gonna have more open looks than ever.
But D. Fish and The Machine was a better shooter than Vlad Rad last season. So Vlad Rad’s time with the Lakers is becoming slim.

Mike Miller just duplicates Sasha Vujacic and they gave him a new contract. Plus, the Lakers need to see if the Odom/Bynum/Gasol front court works out.
I truly believe that this season will be known for Lamar Odom playing the way the Lakers need him to. If it doesn’t work out, then lets talk trading him.
I predict by the end of the season after the Lakers win the NBA Championship that all of those that wanted Odom traded will be saying the Lakers should re-sign him for whatever amount.
Vujacic is our shooter, he’s gonna be an assassin next season. I wouldn’t trade LO for Miller though. If it was Vlad, Luke, Mihm…then yea.

C’mon man, LO is one of the most versatile players in the game. We’re lucky to have him. He just needs to own at SF or as the 6th man(which I hope he will be since he sucks my EEEP at shooting)

i think seeing odom, bynum and gasol is worth looking at before anything. Its only fair for us to see it once since we only dreamt last year on what that would like.

Miller is not a good defender (I’d put him at the same level as Radman so I don’t know where the author gets the idea that he is a better defender than Randman). I think its a stupid idea. Try Odom out at the 3. Its worth a try. He will most likely split time between playing the 3 and playing the back up 4 anyways. Odom is too versatile (since he can play both the 3 and the 4) to let go right now. Especially for Miller (who is just a slightly more reliable version of Radman).

Odom should be traded only for a high caliber player.
I guess at this point, let’s just sit and play. Maybe LO will finally find himself with Bynum and Gasol on the line up. If he still a pot head and lost out there, then just get rid of him possible in February or next season.
If the T’Wolves add Brewer to the deal, I’d do it. I think that group would be good value for Odom. Otherwise, I don’t know if I would do that deal. I just don’t think Mike Miller and Collins is the proper value for Odom. Warrick and Miller would have been good value for Odom.

I love this trade… Lo’s trade value is the highest it will ever be. Once he is playing the 3 he will be exposed and the value will drop. Miller is a baller and a true 3. I don’t care if Lo is capable of playing all 5 positions, all we need is a player that can play 1 position and play it well instead of playing all 5 poorly!!!!

I don’t mind having Mike Miller but they’d have to include someone better than Collins. Plus Collins is out for the year with elbow surgery, I believe. The thing is what would this do to Sasha’s confidence and faith in the team since he wants to be the best shooter in the league. It’s like saying Sasha we like you but we don’t feel you’re a good enough shooter to be relied on. So we decided to trade for Miller.
Who by the way, Kobe said has the best shooting stroke in the league.

No thank you sir. Odom is much more valuable than Miller for the following reasons:
1. He has much more of a range to his game whereas Miller is a 1 trick pony as a shooter.
2. We don’t need another shooter, we had 3 in the top part of the league in 3 point shooting last year [Sasha, Derek, Vlad], and also have Kobe and Farmar to hit 3’s when required.
3. Odom is much more valuable in case of Bynum not being ready to log big minutes, and i think he will see a fair few mins at PF anyway this season.
4. Odom is already established in the triangle and is coming off of the best season of his career with us. He has thrived under less pressure and thus should be given a chance this season. He is also in a contract year and so will be wanting to earn himself a new deal.
5. He is a good team guy who can play a range of positions and when on game he is a difference maker.
