Lakers Championship Tribute

Kobe's Circus Shot

Bynum’s return could bring championship to Lakers

Fox Sports: The Los Angeles Lakers head into the 2008-09 season with far greater expectations than they did a year ago at this time.

Flashback to October of 2008 and all of the talk back then was about whether or not Kobe Bryant was going to get traded.

The midseason trade for Pau Gasol had a lot to do with their deep playoff run and the raised expectations for this season. But even before Mitch Kupchak fleeced Memphis, the Lakers had shown the potential to finish in the top half of the conference thanks to the development of young center Andrew Bynum.

Bynum’s statistics last season weren’t eye-popping — 13.1 ppg, 10.2 rpg and 2.1 bpg — but if you take into account that he wasn’t a starter for the first 10 games, then you can get an idea of Bynum’s value once he became a starter.

Despite having started only 25 games, Bynum still managed to finish with 18 double-doubles, only three fewer than Shaq had in 61 games.

a full season with Bynum and Gasol with Odom coming off the bench should bring us more than just 57 wins. I predict 64 wins. Kobe has yet another MVP season, Bynum comes back to the form he left off in and Odom finally delivers consistently as 6th man. Watch out for the development in Ariza and Farmar. We should be fine, We should take the west this year.

Only challenge in my eyes are the Hornets. CP3 is the real deal.

If somehow we can make it through the season without any major injuries

i personally dont like the idea of lamar as the 6th man.. i want to see that 3 headed monster in LO/PG/AB.. but i have to admit that LO as the 4th option behind kobe, pau and drew will not get it done.. instead he will be the first option coming off the bench.. so idk.. it will be fun to see what the coaching staff does..

I like our chances when Bynum is healthy. Lets MOVE LO to the bench (6th man) and see if he can sparks something or motivate somehow to be more Consistent. We can interchange Ariza and V-lady at SF depends on opposing teams. Yes, I have been tough on LO for 4 years cuz of inconsistencies. I just hope he comes to camp well prepare as he promised at the end of last season. GO LAKESHOW !!

Couldn’t agree with you anymore. And plus we have the greatest coach of all time, COACH PHIL JACKSON, so whatever players he has he can get the job done.
