I do feel extremely sorry for the Suns organization and fans because as good as they've been (espically during those 2 years in which Nash won back-to-back MVPs), they have yet to win the title or worse yet, reach the finals... I welcome Shaq in the suns uniform. Bynum will school him when he gets the chance to play him. Its getting to a point where its painful to watch Shaq play because we all know how dominant he once was and now he is no more than a role player. I guess thats what age do to you. Jealous to the point of homocidal jealousy. They are also just about the most wishy washy, fairweather, biased, unrealistic, marter, hard headed, hypocritical, nostalgic, yuppy, worthless fans of any team I have ever met in my life. Now, obviously there are the given few who are good fans. But they are so few and far between it's almost scary. I watch over 200 basketball games a year. I am a huge fan of the game, and I love this sport and the NBA dearly. That being said, i hate the Phoenix Suns more than just about anything I have ever hated in my life. I have been that we since long before they beat us 2 years in a row in the play-offs. That just obviously added to my hatred. I hate the parking lot attendants. I hate the ticket scanners. I hate the security gaurds. I hate the vendors. I hate the announcers (probably more than anything). They are a far cry from Joel and Stew. Horribly biased, stupid little catch phrases and constant whining about officiating. That's what their braodcasts consist of. Lastly, I hate their players. Getting Shaq was very fitting for this team, because he was the only non-sun that I truly despised. Oh, I almost forgot about the fans. All they care about is the next time the Gorilla is going to come out with some wacky little gimmick. Those stupid little things the Gorilla does get more of a rise out of the crowd than the actual game. The game is just like a constant anticipation of the next 3-point shot. Half the time I'm at the game I'm teaching the fans around me things about their team/players. It's pathetic. Every team that plays the Suns is my second favorite team in the NBA that night. It will always be that way. I hope they NEVER win a championship, and I hope their franchise "dies of a horrible illness and burns in hell" P.S. They were in the top five in merchendise, and their high scoring style was the buzz around the basketball world. So if there was a conspiracy, why in the hell would the NBA conspire AGAINST them?!?! I'm sure a lot of other people do as well, and are more than qualified to think that way. I do live in Phoenix though, and I feel confident in saying without a shoadow of a doubt, that I'm the biggest Laker fan living in this state. I also bartend and have to deal with hundreds and hundreds of Suns' fans a week. So, I'm somewhat of an expert on this subject given that I'm also an unbiased intelligent basketball fan. I consider myself to be the biggest Laker fan on the face of the earth. I’m sure a lot of other people do as well, and are more than qualified to think that way. I do live in Phoenix though, and I feel confident in saying without a shoadow of a doubt, that I’m the biggest Laker fan living in this state. They hate what they don't understand. We have it all. We have a winning tradition and we do it with style and finess. We always have! In short, if we weren’t the best organization in the best city they (non LA fans) would not cheer so much against us. What other team/city generates a “Beat LA” chant and signs? The hatred just means that we are relevant. That is why the Suns team and fans hate us so much. D’antoni wanted to immolate Riley’s show time Lakers and you see what happened to him. I hate the Suns for all the reasons you mentioned but also because they hate us on a personal level. Just like the Sac Queens did except that the Suns have been succesfull against us. But just like the queens, they have disappeared into nothing. They are just good for highlight reels of the Lakers accomplishments. No one remembers losers just like no one remembers that the Suns haven’t accomplished anything. So while we celebrate championships they a long with Nash and co will be remembered as a second tier team like , Ewing, Malone and many great teams/players who were all talk but no action.
