Lakers waive Dwayne Mitchell

Inside The Lakers: The Los Angeles Lakers waived free agent guard Dwayne Mitchell Wednesday afternoon.

Mitchell, a 6′5″ 220-pound guard out of Louisiana Lafayette, was a member of the Lakers 2008 Summer-Pro League team in Las Vegas, where he averaged 6.7 points and 1.5 rebounds in 15.0 minutes over six games.

Mitchell practiced with the team on Wednesday morning and said that he was feeling good again after being limited for a few days with some soreness in his knee.

The Lakers roster now stands at 18.

I wanted to see this dude play. Oh well

  2. RAZOR RAMON says:

ah man he was favorite rookie because our arms are identical!

  3. CalLaker says:

He was my favorite player from summer league. Sad to see him go before seeing a single minute of action in an NBA game.

  4. Smush Walton says:

I don’t see Coby Karl making the team this time. He looked lost out there.

I wouldn’t mind us unloading Vlad Rad. It appears all he wants to do is shoot 3’s and he’s not all that great at that.

Lamar looked pretty bad out there too. Let’s hope we get some consistency from this guy. It would be a welcomed change.

  5. RON says:

    Damn this dude is gone?

i was pretty sure he was the next MJ…he was wearing no 23 and everything…it can be a cruel world…i hope the knicks sign him…he can really be MJ on that team

  6. sammie says:

i guess dwayne mitchell just didn’t impressed the lakers coaching staff that much, too bad, i guess he will be in the d-leage then.

  7. ICE CREAM MAN says:

Same here, I wanted to see this guy play. Why is the coaching staff stuck on playing Cobe Karl? I mean, we all know what he can do and what he is going to do. They should let some one else a chance to shine, if possible. As far as Cobe, he is going to hustle and get lost on defense, drive in and pass a bit off the mark, shoot for 3 (nice form and straight but 2 inches too long).

  8. Ignard says:

When I saw him in a suit on Tuesday I knew he was done.

  9. DCLAKER says:

That’s means…or I hope CJ Giles and Heath make the team.

  10. jp says:

that sucks i wanted him or giles to make the team preferable cj giles on tuesdays game it sayd that poweell didnt have a guaranteed contract so does that mean theres 2 spots left?
