Lakers interested in Atkins?

Well… this is news to me… How would you guys feel about Chuck coming back?

O.C. Register: But sources close to the team told me that the Lakers are keeping a close watch on the status of former Lakers guard Chucky Atkins, who is with the Denver Nuggets.

Sources also tell me that the Lakers are keeping an eye on another former Laker guard, Jannero Pargo, who currently is playing for the Russian professional league’s.

    Atkins is injury prone.

Get Pargo or Lue already, shiit.

  2. Mitch4Pres says:

    no thanks

  3. kobe bryant says:

    yes pargo,no atkins

  4. Razor Ramon says:

    he doesnt have a neck!

  5. Whatsa says:

Oh heck yeah, get Pargo instead of Lue.

  6. xtro says:

it’s time to get pargo. we got exposed. we all saw what chris paul did to us last night. we need a tenacious pg to defend quick guards like paul and parker in case we meet their teams in the wcf.

  7. Oh.My.God! Please nooooo.

Chucky was a decent offensive player, but I don’t recall his defense being anything great.

maybe ur memories are short . . .

On March 27, 2005, Atkins when asked about the Lakers’ off seasons moves responded:

“I ain’t no GM. Ask Kobe. He’s the GM. It’s his [Kobe's] team,”

  10. Jeff Little says:

The Lakers need to sign Jannero Pargo or Tyron Lue and not Chucky Atkins. As stated previously, too injury prone and as stated by daboss1848 can’t forget the anti-Kobe blast.

  11. John Ireland says:

I always disliked Chucky, he seems so cocky for such an average to below average player. BTW, nice vid Chris.

    “he seems so c.o.c.k.y”

i liked chucky. he made his threes. he’s kinda short though. but i’d welcome him back. i wish they didn’t include him in the kwame deal…

  14. lakers2000 says:

Nooooooooooooooo! Whhhhhyyyyyyyy?! That guy has no D and he wants glory for himself. Smush was probably better. Pargo is the way to go if you can’t swing a deal for someone better IMO. I am sure the Lakers will surprise us again when we’re not expecting it. Go Lakers!!!

  15. daboss1849 says:

trade Lo for hinrich straight up. the bulls can use the joe smith exception and the salaries work. both teams benifit.

And how does this help the Lakers?? You do realize that Hinrich has, after this year, 3 years and about $27M left on his contract. And remember, Trevor Ariza is an unrestricted free agent, so any team can sign him after this year (and he will get decent sized offers) and also Kobe can opt-out of his current deal after this season and resign with the Lakers for more money. LO’s $14M expiring contract is also helpful to the Lakers (i.e. it free’s up some money).

You do know that Buss’s partner is a billionaire and the lakers are selling out all there games right?

  18. Robert says:

No to Atkins. He was a Kobe hater. (well, ‘it’s Kobe’s team’). We should ask Kobe what he thinks, since apparently he’s the GM.

  19. Well it’s time to put this one away – Chucky was just traded to OKC.

The Nuggets have traded reserve guard Chucky Atkins to the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for reserve center Johan Petro. Denver will also trade their first-round pick in the 2009 draft to the Thunder for the Thunder’s second-round pick.

  20. No thanks. Can he play above average D? No. Thus, no!

  21. freddyb says:

how about Smush Parker….he’s in the D-League

You do realize there is a cap in the NBA and if a team goes way over, it is very difficult to get back under the cap? Ever hear of the NY Knicks and why they have been bad for the past few years? Could it be quite possibly be because they went way over the cap and now have to throw seasons away just to get back under it. You want this Lakers to do this?????????????

  23. Robert says:

    Pargo!!!
