Kobe says LeBron is the MVP… but do we believe him?
Lakers Examiner: Los Angels Lakers guard and reigning NBA MVP Kobe Bryant was recently asked his thoughts about this year’s MVP. He picked fellow freak-of-nature and Olympic teammate LeBron James…
LeBron…I’m a big fan of his, obviously. I just think the world of him.
Playing with him this summer [at the Beijing Olympics], and seeing his work ethic and what he’s about, I just think he’s terrific.
Is it just me or can you see Kobe gritting his teeth and grimacing while he’s saying this?
It would be a mistake to think that Kobe is admitting that LeBron is a better player…or that he has even played better than Kobe this season. We all know Kobe never thinks (and would certainly never admit) that another player is even his equal in ability.

Uhh, no! I don’t think Kobe gives a flying fizzle about the regular season mvp. He still has a bad taste in his mouth after the last one. I also believe that Kobe is cruising under the radar right now. I expect him to go on a tear after the All Star break. I just hope the rest of the team will be with him! Go Lakers!!!
Kobe doesn’t really care. He’s happy for Lebron that he’s doing so great. Kobe already got his MVP, and the cavs have a better record and Lebron is having a better season than kobe. Of course leading candidate for MVP is Lebron. MVP =/= best player in the NBA.

Lebron is definitely the leading candidate for MVP this year. Do you see how everything the Cavs do runs through him? If Lebron is not out on the floor, then the Cavs aren’t nearly as good. The Lakers on the other hand, can survive and still produce when Kobe is taking a breather.
Another way to put it, taking out Lebron and Kobe, which team is better? Which team can survive without their superstar? I think the Lakers minus Kobe are a much better team than Cleveland minus Lebron. Lebron makes the Cavs amazingly better, which is why he is the leading MVP.
Also, MVP is not being the best player in the world, it is about what player makes his team THAT much better.
