Kobe will not undergo any finger surgery
Here is an update on Kobe’s finger which he had postponed surgery over the summer for to play in the Olympics.
Sports Illustraded: And the finger surgery he put off twice to ensure he would not miss any Lakers or Team USA games? He says the procedure is permanently off. He recently stopped taping the finger for games and, according to his prognosis, there are no plans for an operation.

i guess he wants an excuse for going through shooting slumps

I highly doubt that. Kobe rarely uses excuses for his screw ups. But seriously when has he blamed his finger for his shooting. He would rather say he wasnt feeling it that night or his game was a bit off.
