Pau Gasol to play for Spain in Euro Championships
Information about the tournament Pau Gasol and Ricky Rubio will be competing in.
Guardian: Pau Gasol and Ricky Rubio were included in the Spain squad on Monday for the 2009 European Championship (Eurobasket) in Poland.
Forward Gasol has just helped the Los Angeles Lakers win the NBA championship, while 18-year-old Rubio hopes to join him in the United States next season if he can negotiate a release from his contract with Spanish side DKV Joventut.
Point guard Rubio was selected fifth in the NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves last week.
New Spain coach Sergio Scariolo brought in Carlos Cabezas for injured Toronto Raptors guard Jose Manuel Calderon, and Victor Claver for retired captain Carlos Jimenez.
World champions Spain were runners-up to Russia in the last Eurobasket final in Madrid two years ago. This year’s tournament is in Poland from Sept. 7-20.

Thats one thang about those guys from other countries. They jump at every chance to play for their country. Even though the best thing for Pau right now is rest he is off to play more b-ball.JUST STAY HEALTHY PAU.
i hope he reconsiders, but i doubt that. i was hoping he get lots of rest this year. 1st coming off the olympics, then preseason, and then all the way to the nba finals. just hope he stays healthy.

I WOULD L I T E R A L Y SOULD MY SOUL to see Pau live… shake his hand or take a photo with him is a thing for to live for. I want to cut myself everytime i see that Eurobasket is in my country, and i was to late to buy tickets for Spain. I hate myself and i wanna die!
