Lakers willing to match offers of $5.6 million MLE, but not overpay

The update on Ariza is it looks like the Lakers are willing to match the offers Ariza has been receiving but not go over.

Press Enterprise: A Lakers source speaking on the condition of anonymity said the offers Ariza has received from other teams are for the $5.6 million mid-level exception.

The Lakers are willing to match the other offers on the table for Ariza, according to the source, but they’re not going to overpay simply because it’s their own player.

    He will stay!

  2. Sean All Ivy says:

I love Trevor but he’s not worth more than the mid level exception. And if he signs with another teams for the MLE just to spite the Lakers he is a fool. Kobe will take that so personally and with make sure to drop 60 on him.

  3. LOLKERS says:

Quit being a cheap ass, Jerry.

    Pay the man!

Lakers would have never made it to the Finals without him.

  4. 2Anush4 says:

hes not over 7 mil maybe 8……now thats pushing it but phhhhhhhhhhhhheeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwww i was searching the web for any updates on this thanks guys for posting so quickly

  5. John says:

Ok i think we need to sign him 6-7 mil per, max. deferred payments like the dodgers do… then we should trade morrison for a draft pick in the future plus cash to clear up the cap

  6. John says:

and release sun yue. that guy’s a bum anyway.

  7. willow says:

So basically if he wants more than 5 mil he’ll decide between Portland, Detroit and Toronto. Cleveland offered the same MLE to him just as the Lakers did. He’s still gonna get his money if he wants more, question is which 3 teams will he sign with? Those teams doesn’t necessarily scream championship caliber to me.

  8. Geloman says:

Portland is trying to get Hedo and they still have Fernandez. Detroit just signed Villanueva. Toronto? Canada? I don’t think so.

  9. lakers4life. says:

wow 5 million is still a lot of money..pro players are so selfish.

  10. John says:

they gotta “take care of their family”…. i pretty sure 5 mil will have me set for 20 years, if i take care of the money smartly

  11. sketch says:

Yo! If Ariza bleeds purple and gold like his agent claims then there’s NO REASON why Ariza won’t resign with the Lakers! He’s gonna get the same offer that the other teams are willing to pay! But now he can continue to play for a championship team, not have to move, and continue to live in beautiful southern California!

  12. Mr. WoodCock says:

This is what the Lakers should have done with Bybum. At least this time they are playing it safe and cool. They need to stand their ground and not hit the panic button. Bybum has the same agent. Maybe Buss caught a tell from his last move.

“According to a Twitter post by Yahoo’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Trevor Ariza will become a very rich man at the hands of the team that loses out on Hedo Turkoglu.

League executives believe Portland or Toronto, whichever team does not sign Turkoglu, will offer Ariza between $32 million and $40 million deal.”

Detroit is signing Ben Gordan, and Villinueva, thus eating this cap space. Its a matter of Toronto or Portland, although, the lakers should just sign him up for 35M/5 years

  15. What a says:

noob ariza, you so selfish money brat
i loved watching tis guy but now he look like noob to me

  16. kobe-wan kenobi says:

    bye bye repeat
if ariza leaves and we cannot sign artest, forget another title with every team getting stronger (spurs, magic, cavs)

portland going hedo, eating their cap space
raptors going david lee (haha, isnt that trevor’s agent’s name?) thus eating their cap space.

    THATS RIGHT, PAY THE MAN

  20. LEADERFISH says:

Obviously some people like to spend others money. “pay the man” What idiots!!! Same people said “pay sasha” when he wanted a full mle.

Such a doubter. Weren’t you the same guy that said throughout the playoffs that the Lakers were NOT going to win the championship.

How can you even call yourself a Laker fan when you don’t have faith in the team? You are an embarrassment to Laker fans.

  22. lakerferlife7 says:

we made it to the finals without ariza…oya and bynum..bynum will cme back strong ans healthy…and there is always the option of artest…the lakers will be fine without this guy…and i kinda doubt that those teams will pay him that much..hes probly just saying that to get buss to up the contract
