Kupchak’s Statement on Ron Artest
Lakers.com: 
The following is a statement released on Thursday evening from Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak:
“We have entered into discussions with Ron Artest and it is our intention to sign him to a contract at the conclusion of the moratorium period.”
The free agency moratorium period started on July 1, when free agents were allowed to begin speaking with NBA teams.
The period concludes on July 7, which sets July 8 as the date for the potential and official agreement between the Lakers and Artest.

Good move Mitch. SOunds like we have some laker or artest haters here. Artest for $6 mil- anytime (what a bargain). Now sign Lamar for $7-8 mil. If Lamar won’t sign for that price, lakers should sign Amare for $10 mil. Can’t wait for OCtober- it’s going to be exciting with lots of fire on the team. Kobe now has he’s Pippen or Rodman that he’s longed for. Now we can win atleast 2 more titles with this roster.

People who say signing Artest is a mistake must be conservative republicans who are unable to see outside the box. This guy changes the whole landscape of the NBA for the Lakers. They are now a powerhouse favorite to repeat as champions. Ariza gave them a good chance but who knows what would have happened. He could disappear like Vujacic after gettin paid. F-U-C-K Ariza and get over him and embrace Artest cause he’s the freakin man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Plus on top of that hes bigger stronger and plays awesome defense, he plays in the post and can shoot the three just as good if not better than ariza. dont get me wrong i loved ariza but to trade a player like ron artest, who was the superstar on the rockets for a role player like ariza is a no brainer.
