Game Overview: No one guessed the Trivia Challenge correctly. Which led to most of the scores hovering around 15. The Gilbert Arenas of the contest, OsmOnd, boasted he would take over the lead. And just like Agent Zero lately, came up short.
LD2K dropped from 2 to 10 in one game because he forgot to add in his predictions. (Was he thinking of his Las Vegas weekend?) Brillus continues to lead but it has tightened up. Only 20 pts separates the Top Ten. If you are in the middle of the pack, have heart, you are not far behind. A good game or two and you will be right back in the hunt for the ‘Hoodie.’
(Lesson: If you want to be “The One”, don’t miss a game.)

‘Does anybody remember Sweetwater Jones?’
On a scale of 1-10, ten being best, the T-Wolves come in at a minus 2. The Wolves are that bad.
And we sometimes complain that our Front Office is bad? Rebuilding means they have become an expansion franchise all over again. There only hope is a little known ballplayer, Sweetwater Jones. At 3′2″ he may be small, but he has a big mouth, and even a bigger afro.
The injuries for the Lakers? After last years run of bad luck. A couple of injuries to Kwame and Mo have all of us wondering. Is it going to be Lakers Injuries: Part 2 ? Kwame flip flopping in practice, shooting his free throws, actually makes Fatty and maybe Steve, feel a little better. But Lamar playing full contact makes me really feel better.

Fatty: Sorry, I’m late with the take. It was Fatty’s 31st anniversary last night. Which leaves me only a few minutes this AM to put together the preview.
If this was last year.
Last year the Lakers would get us all excited by competing well with some of the best, then only to stink up the place, in losing to lousy teams. Had to be the most frustrated thing to watch, don’t you think? New Orleans is not lousy, but they’re not the Suns or Utah either.
This is the game that may show us how much we have improved from last year to this year. Can we get up for the game? Will this squad display the workman like attitude missing from the previous season?
As Lakers Fans, we don’t ask for much. We are extremely easy to please. We are like the little kid who’s happy with a cardboard box to play with, that doesn’t need the expensive toys. All we want and ask from our Lakers is to play hard, hustle, and spice it up with a few dunks, a few blocks, and a few great passes. We’ll take the occasional loss, as long as we have the effort.

A Lakers win means some nice scoring. We had a lot of high scores but two predictors stood out from the rest. Not surprising, they also predicted the winning point margin.
Our two ‘Game Winners’ at 30 points: Brillus and Deepfrost.
‘Race for the Hoodie’ – (69 Contestants) ‘Top Ten’ after two games: “There can be only one.”

‘Pinch Me, I must be dreaming’
Lakers win by 21 and ruin Suns opener.
Amare out rebounded 22 – 1.
Nash, only 3 assists and 5 Turnovers.
Dantoni’s blow up, “Priceless!”
“Kobe, your team just dismantled and humiliated the Phoenix Suns at their Arena, a team many are predicting to win it all. What are you going to do now? Go to Disneyland?”
“We don’t have to get too ahead of ourselves,” he said. “We just have to stay in the minute. We have to get out of here, get some rest and get ready to practice (Saturday) because that’s really when you become a better team.”
“Disneyland? Oh yeah, after practice I’ll pick up my girls, and head over to Disneyland to get some of those candy apples. Those things are really good.”
Okay, the game is not even over 5 minutes and Kobe is trying to get his team to focus on practice. “Did you say practice? We talking about practice?! Practice?!”
Last night at my annual Halloween Party, Fatty dressed up as a Laker (How original?! But bold considering that I live in Arizona). My Laker buddy and neighbor said, “that was one of the best Laker games he’d seen in years. Because it lifted his spirits (no pun intended) so much.”

Who of you would’ve predicted that Vladimir (The Impaler) would be the leading scorer (19) and the Lakers would beat down the Suns by 21. Obviously nobody.
The scores were all over the place. The logical ones, (thee with little faith) picked the Suns and were wrong. And were extremely happy it turned out that way. The ‘Homies’, who always see the glass as full and over flowing, picked the Lakers. But none of the ‘Homies,’ even came close to the 21 point slaughter of the Suns.
38 participated, but 4 stood out above the rest. Great predictors? If you asked the ‘Gang of Four’ they would say, Absolutely! We are L.B.E.’s Lakers Basketball Experts and would echo Kwame’s words about the win, “It was a piece of cake.”
Our four winners and current leaders in the race for the ‘Hoodie’ with 20 points are…

Kobefan2408 WINS FIRST GAME PREDICTION CONTEST!!!
It was close. 30 contestants were within 5 points of each other, but one contestant stood out from the rest with an amazing score of 20. Congratulations to our first contest winner. Kobefan2408, you are the master of predictions, the Nostradamus of the NBA, the Prophet of Round Ball. Well, at least for this one game.

Only one had a zero. C’mon Phantom! You can do better than that? Keep this up and we will start calling you Agent Zero Phantom. :
This Friday against the Suns, the contest of 15 games begins. As Mr. Miyagi told the Karate Kid on the island of Okinawa when facing the death duel. “This no practice Daniel-San, is for real.”

“It is what it is?”
“Are you ready?” As one reporter asked Coach Jackson after practice on Wednesday.
Looking for some insight, I waited for Phil’s answer. He hesitated, and then said something very PJ-like. “It is what it is, you gotta go do it.” Profound no, truthful yes. Encouraging? Not really. You never know with this Phil guy. He sounded more like the General leading his troops into battle, knowing the outcome will not be good.
When asked about Andrew Bynum’s defensive prowess? General P. Jackson shook his head and said, “Don’t ask me that.” All the reporters laughed, all we bloggers moaned.
When asked about the Utah game? General P. Jackson said, “It was one of our better defensive efforts as a team.” The reporters smiled. “You don’t believe me?!” We bloggers frowned.
Putting a good face on the situation. Our fearless leader announced the starting five for Friday’s game. And adding, “its not set in stone,” but this is our starting line-up this Tuesday against the Houston Rockets.
The regular season starters for your Los Angeles Lakers.
