This is awesome. I added some pictures (click more to read the entire post). Back 2 The Future + Kobe = Nike McFlys…
Gizmodo: As you already know, today was the launch of the limited-edition Marty McFly-inspired Nike Hyperdunk sneakers.
350 pairs were sold almost instantly (some are now for sale in eBay for as much as $2,000), a hundred of them at the UNDFTD shop in Santa Monica, where L.A. Lakers’ megastar Kobe Bryant arrived in a DeLorean time machine to be greeted by hundred of fans, some of them camping outside for more than 24 hours.
Seriously, I’m a Back to the Future fan too, but what kind of obsessed fanboy can wait for more than 24 hours for a stupid piece of merchandise? Ah… hrmmm. OK, nevermind.

Sounds like there is mutual respect on both sides. I would, once again, LOVE to have James Posey on this Lakers squad…
Hoopsworld: Sources close to the situation contend James Posey would love to be a Laker and that the Lakers are willing to go the full exception to land him.
I thought this is VERY interesting. Recently, during the finals, there were the reports that the “assumed” 2002 Western Conference Finals were “fixed.” While I’m happy the basketball world for the most part doesn’t believe in this “fixing,” this also obviously struck up a very controversial debate.
Recently, 82games.com wrote up an insane article on how they believe it was NOT fixed at all. They analyze many angles of the games, calls and consistency through the refs. If you’re interested, definitely check it out. Very cool and intellectual stuff! Click on the link below to check it out:
Reviewing the calls: Lakers-Kings Game 6
Interesting stuff. Sounds like the Lakers will potentially make a move for Artest…
InsideSocal: The Lakers, Dallas Mavericks, Houston Rockets and Miami Heat are expected to be among the teams interested in obtaining Ron Artest from the Sacramento Kings once the NBA’s dead period ends July 9. Kings general manager Geoff Petrie figures to receive plenty of calls about Artest and his expiring $7.4 millon contract, according to the Sacramento Bee newspaper. No reason to think Lakers general manager Mitch Kupchak won’t call, too.

Jordan Farmar is going to head out of the USA to put on basketball clinics for kids! Great stuff…
KoreaTimes: Los Angeles Lakers guard Jordan Farmar is scheduled to meet fans and put on a basketball clinic to teach skills and share tips on how to become a better player.
Very excellent news to hear! Now do your job, Mitch. And sign him!
O.C. Register: Andrew Bynum did indeed receive medical clearance from doctors Thursday and will begin training in earnest by mid-July. His agent, David Lee, said the Lakers center did not have any pain or swelling in his surgically repaired left knee and will be ready to go by training camp in October.
Pretty cool news. Glad to see Fisher bringing his personality outside of the Lakers and into the broadcasting booth. Very cool, make sure to check out the tv broadcasts and also check out the very exciting Sparks!
Our Sports Central: Three-time NBA champion and Los Angeles Lakers’ guard Derek Fisher is using the off-season to be a guest color analyst on five Los Angeles Sparks telecasts on the Fox Sports Network, it was announced.
Fisher joins veteran play-by-play announcer Larry Burnett, who is in his 11th season as voice of the Sparks. Fisher began his guest commentator role July 1. Other telecasts Fisher will work are July 6 vs. Phoenix, July 14 vs. San Antonio, Aug. 28 vs. Sacramento and Sept. 1 vs. Minnesota, which is on FSN West. The other telecasts are on FSN Prime Ticket. Fisher also serves as president of the National Basketball Players Association (NBPA).
“I’m excited to be working with the Sparks,” said Fisher, a 12-year NBA veteran. “The front office has done a great job in assembling a crowd-pleasing and entertaining team to watch.
“Talking about basketball comes very easy to me. It’s something I’ve been doing my whole life, so it’s great that I get the chance to share my knowledge and experiences with basketball fans.
“I’d like to give the fans at home something interesting to listen to. I can tell them what a coach might be saying to his or her players during an important time out. Or what kind of play a team should run during a key possession.”

This is interesting. What is your take? I would def. like Maggette to get on board. Imagine all the free throws we’d get. Plus, he’s a physical player.
O.C. Register: Maggette and the Lakers’ franchise player, Kobe Bryant, share the same agent, one Rob Pelinka. So perhaps it would behoove the Lakers to at least give Pelinka a call to see if anything is possible.
The Lakers are well over the salary cap anyway and are in the luxury-tax paying stratosphere, so what harm does it do to ask Maggette and Pelinka if the mid-level exception would suffice? Heck, Corey could still keep his jersey No. 50.
