Now before you begin reading this, I am not an NBA analyst and do not completely understand how the cap works. I will try to keep it somewhat short as I try to go through the Lakers current situation and possible future plans for the off-season.

Avery’s Post-Season Special

Instead of my traditional post game report, it’s time for my post-season report.

As a Lakers fan, you have to be happy with what this team accomplished in 2008. The Lakers won arguably the best conference ever, with there being several teams over .500 and out of the playoffs. The Lakers also rolled right through the playoffs until the Finals. And with Gasol in the lineup, including the playoffs, they still only lost 12 games total.

It was definitely a fun season to be apart of as a Lakers fan. From opening night and Bynum’s dominance to Kwame’s departure and the Lakers 14-7 playoff record… it was a fun season.

Lakers Nation represented this year as every day during the Finals I saw at least a dozen Laker car flags on my ten minute route to work. You know life is good and your team is good, when fans are disappointed after losing in the NBA Finals. We have been spoiled by the L.A. greatness.

Avery’s Lakers/Nuggets Playoff Preview

After 82 games of NBA Basketball, the 1 vs. 8 Matchup in the West is finally set. With the Mavericks victory over the Hornets Wednesday night, the Lakers will host the Denver Nuggets this Sunday as the NBA Playoffs take center stage.

Rather than bore you with the statistics on how superior the Lakers are to the Nuggets, in sweeping the season series, I’m going to look past that and go to my well-known TLN post-game format. Instead of the top three Laker performers of the game, I’m going to let you know which three Lakers need to step up against Denver so we can take care of them quickly…

Avery’s Trade Deadline Special

Now that teams are finalized for the most part, we can start to see how the Lakers match-up again some of the best teams in the west. I will start with the team that I think poses the biggest threat in the west for the Lakers. This doesn’t necessarily mean they are the best in the west, but they pose potential match-up problems for the Lakers.

I will also predict what would happen if they met in a seven game series with neutral home-court advantage. Also, before I start talking about other teams, let it be known — I do think the Lakers are the best team in the NBA.

Avery’s Postgame Summaries Special

Lakers fans!

We are nine games into the season and the Lakers are an impressive 6-3 with the toughest schedule of any NBA team.

Let’s start by taking a look back at my post-game analysis. Every night I do my top three Lakers as well as my Smush of the Day or STD. I came up with a scoring system which gave first place each night 3 points, second place 2 points, third 1 point, and the STD -1 point. Below you can see the totals which shouldn’t come as a surprise.
