fisherWe did it! The Los Angeles Lakers secured their 15th NBA Championship tonight in Orlando!

After a Playoffs full of ups and downs, the Lakers finally put together back to back wins on the road.

Kobe, the 2009 NBA Finals MVP played his best game of the playoffs. He was a true leader tonight and every Laker followed (except maybe Sasha).

The Lakers opened the game by pounding the ball inside with Bynum attempting a quick 11 shots and only connecting on 3 of them. The Lakers then turned to their outside game and hit 8 of 16 threes and put the clamps on Orlando with a 16-0 run, seemingly unheard of in an NBA Finals.

The Lakers held Orlando to 8 of 27 from three and outrebounded the Magic 47 to 36 with 13 offensive rebounds. The Lakers also kept the game clean with 9 turnovers (not counting the 24 second violation with 3 seconds in the game).

I’ll keep the rest short so we can continue to celebrate! See you all at the parade this week!

fishershotBack from the dead! Just when it looked as if the Magic were going to tie this series up, the Lakers struck back!

Behind a solid defensive effort holding the Magic to under 42% shooting, the Lakers took a commanding 3-1 series lead to come within 1 win of the 2009 NBA title.

Four of the five Lakers starters scored in double figures and the Lakers played very clean basketball on the road with only 7 turnovers as a team, 10 less than their opponents.

As big as this was a win for the Lakers, they got lucky winning in overtime considering Orlando only made 22 of 37 threethrows and Fisher made two huge threes to lock up this week.

The Lakers must play better if they want to win this series in five games.

gasolGuess we can’t win them all.

The Lakers blew a chance to all but lock in another title tonight with their four point loss in Orlando Tuesday night.

The Magic offense finally heated up as they shot 63% for the game, which is pretty unheard of the Finals. The Lakers themselves shot 51%, but they couldn’t hit any freethrows tonight. 10 misses from the stripe in a Finals game will not get it done.

Five Lakers scored double figures but it just seemed as if Orlando played a much more crisp game.

The Lakers don’t need to panic as they still hold a 2-1 series lead.

scrowlLet’s Go Lakers!

The Lakers hung on Sunday night to take a commanding 2-0 series lead to come another step closer to their first title in seven years!

Kobe led the way with 29, but several Lakers contributed to tonight’s big win.

The Lakers once again played superb defense for most of the game. They held Orlando to only 42% shooting for th game including 33% from behind the arc.

The Lakers forced 20 turnovers and did the little things to come on top tonight. While the Magic forwards were hot, the Laker guards were even hotter with 41 points from the backcourt!

TLN’s Playoff Report: Lakers @ Nuggets [Game 6]

donteffwithusThe Lakers did it! They finally won back to back games and the result — THE 2009 NBA FINALS!

The Lakers just took this game over tonight. The first quarter started slow, but as the game went on, the Laker offense stepped up, and the defense was stifling.

The Lakers outshot Denver tonight 59% to only 43%. The Lakers really played great basketball on the road tonight. 27 assists on the night compared to only 14 from Denver.

Once again, it’s Friday night so I’ll keep it short so the celebrating the Lakers Western Conference Championship can get started early, but save a little for mid June.

familiarOutplayed, outshot, outhustled, outscored. That is the story of the Lakers game tonight.

The Lakers sluggish defense forced six turnovers for the Nuggets and committed 31 fouls leading to 49 free throws.

The Lakers got outrebounded 58 to 40! Three Nuggets had 13 boards or more.

Neither team shot the ball well overall, especially from behind the arc, but the difference was made at the free-throw line, where the Lakers couldn’t hit back to back shots aside from Kobe. Kobe was the only Laker who had that look in his eyes as if he actually cared about the final result.

The Lakers just can’t put back to back wins together. Hopefully Wednesday night back at home, the Lakers put forth more effort.

toosweeetI can sleep well again tonight.

The Lakers defeated the Nuggets on Saturday night to reclaim home court advantage and take a 2-1 series lead.

Kobe was Kobe yet again and dominated the fourth quarter. The Lakers didn’t play one of their best games, but it was enough to steal a win in Denver.

The Lakers held the Nuggets to under 40% from the field, and only 97 points for the game. The Nuggets played aggressive all night and had 31 fouls putting several players in foul trouble throughout the night.

Since it is Saturday night, I’m going to keep it short and start celebrating.

TLN’s Playoff Report: Lakers vs. Rockets [Game 7]

epicgasolThis was a great game played by the Lakers. This is the type of effort that is going to get another trophy to Los Angeles.

The Lakers held the Rockets to only 37% shooting, 5 of 20 from 3 point land, and just had them taking terrible shots, making awful passes all day long. No Rocket scored more than 13 points, and the Lakers aggressiveness kept the Rockets in foul trouble.

The Lakers opened the game with intense defense and finished the same way. The most amazing stat of the game is the Lakers 55 rebounds compared to only 33 for Houston.

Every Laker played well today, and the numbers don’t show it. The bench players didn’t have amazing numbers, but they all really made key plays and hustled all game long.

Looking forward to Tuesday’s game one vs. Denver, the Lakers need to continue to play like they did tonight. Denver has a lot more size and strength in the paint, and the Laker bigs need to dominate it as they did today.
