Hey everyone, I’m in LAX with Shane waiting for our flight to Utah today. The Lakers currently hold a 2-1 series lead over the Jazz, tonights game is surely important to hold any momentum we may have in this first round. Lakers have lost 8 of the last 11 games in Salt Lake, Kobe is 1-8 in the Playoffs.
We’ll be getting you guys all the latest updates from Energy Solutions Arena during TLN Live. You can also follow me on Twitter, where I’ll be giving some updates as the trip goes on.
More importantly, Shane’s road game streak is at stake — he is currently undefeated. I on the other hand, have never won.
A streak will be broken.

With all due respect to Irish people everywhere — I cannot wear green, and if you’re reading this, I know you can’t either.
Well, in honor of our dedication to the city of Los Angeles and its sports franchise (maybe more so for our Celtic hate), The Lakers Nation would like to flip the script for every St. Patrick’s Day here on out. We’re calling on all Lakers fans everywhere to dump the green for purple and gold. Now, we understand the troubles that come with not wearing traditional green, but I assure you all — if you live in the greater Los Angeles area, people will understand, you will be spared.
Remember, its always better to get a pinch or two, than lose your pride.

Here are some scattered postgame comments and thoughts from the former dynamic duo…
Kobe Bryant -
- He felt as though tonight was a trap game, meaning that with the circumstances coming in, this could have been an upset.
- When asked if he misses the challenge, that used to be Phoenix, “I wish they were still there so we can kick their ass.”
- Shannon Brown’s dunk, which did not count, was probably one of the most athletic plays he has ever seen.
- When asked about homecourt advantage, “Its not so much as having homecourt advantage to get a championship. Its more of us having the best record, just to say we have the best record.”
Shaquille O’Neal -
- Upset with the amount of shots taken. (Seven)
- Nothing but praise for Pau Gasol — both as a player and a person.
- Surprised by the warm ovation.
- Call himself the “most dominate and most controversial big man in Lakers history,” and that’s how he wants to be remembered.
Be sure to check out the Voice of the Nation Podcast for the audio clips!

Yes, I know its easier said than done, but it needs to be said…
Kwame Brown is a very sensitive individual, and that could very well be an understatement. Kobe pointed this out during his postgame comments Thursday night. Kwame’s play takes a landslide when his home crowd is against him. It happened in Washington and its happened here.

The backcourt that helped us land 3 Champiohships through 2000-2002 is back together again this season. Both Kobe and Fisher seemed thrilled at Lakers Media Day yesterday. For Kobe, it could be a bit of familiarity from the glory days. Fisher who spent the last few seasons in both Golden State and Utah also seemed to enjoy dawning the Purple and Gold once again. In a team stacked with PG’s (not necessarily all great), Fisher is the only veteran and the only with championship experience.
Will this backcourt that lead us through the 3-Peat help bring us more than just first round exits? Sound off!
… Just get the season started with.
I am a Lakers fan, and today is the longest day of my life.
Wednesday could have been played out like a season of 24. The day started off like any other. Here I was, studying for finals… not knowing that Kobe Bryant was on ESPN radio with Stephen A. Smith. Then… at 9:48am PST I got the call, it was LD2k. “Are you listening?” he asked, “No, I’m studying for my finals…” I replied. Then it came….
“Kobe just asked to be traded!”
Before it can even sink in, I got another call waiting. I was Shane Bien. Right then and I knew why he was calling. I quickly turned it to ESPN Radio to check for myself. It was true. The rest of the day would be like hell. I had one final coming in 2 hours, I had to study. But how? My world was crumbing. But I am a man of priorities. So right then I decided the right thing to do was go online and see what other Laker fans thought of all this. Just my luck, Lakers sites are down! This is madness! No, this is LAKERLAND.
I arrive in class, it was all I can think about. I looked so bad, so dead. I let a few of my fellow Laker fans know what was going on. They were also unaware. “YOU LIE!” they said, “Kobe was on the radio yesterday and… and… and… said he wants to stay with the Lakers!” So I pulled out my Blackberry, went on ESPN.com, and had them see for themselves. I can see their hearts drop. It was torture for me as a fan, but better they find out now. *4 way split screen comes up*
The rest of the afternoon I felt like Chloe during a CTU operation *dropped another 24 comparison*. On my computer looking for the latest news, looking at the TV which was on ESPN the whole day, and listening to the radio tuned to AM570. Getting calls left and right, trying to fill everyone on the latest while still keeping up with whats going on. He’s leaving! No he’s staying, YES!!! Damnit, he might not stay!!! What is going on?!?! Not even Jack Bauer can fix this!

First of all, thanks to Jamie for calling in the Lakers official radio station, AM570 KLAC today and mentioning GetGarnett.com on the Loose Cannons today. It’s great when fans get passionate about this website.
Along with the mention on AM570 this afternoon, we’re starting to get some attention on other blogs, websites, and in the media. Instead of recapping the whole conversation, we’ve conveniently cut the segment of the show for you guys to listen to. (Thanks Nugget!) You can check out the mention of GetGarnett.com on The Loose Cannon’s right below.
Audio clip: Adobe Flash Player (version 9 or above) is required to play this audio clip. Download the latest version here. You also need to have JavaScript enabled in your browser.
The caller also mentioned the clip on the front page cut by the illustrious LD2k. He mentioned it got him hyped up and that’s exactly what we want. In fact, that’s what LD2k does best. You can expect another Kevin Garnett/Kobe Bryant teaser video from him soon, if you get excited about the intro video now, just wait for his upcoming video. . . WOW!
Also mentioned on the show, Jim Buss, son of Jerry Buss and likely future owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, will be on the Loose Cannons tomorrow afternoon for an interview. Part of the segment I believe will be a Q&A session and Steve Hartman (Loose Cannon’s host) mentioned they might even open up the phone lines for the fans to contribute and ask questions to Jim Buss directly. This is your chance to represent Lakers nation and perhaps ask about the possibility of landing a Kevin Garnett.
Steve Hartman did mention he will personally ask Jim Buss if Kobe is doing anything to talk Garnett into coming to Los Angeles. It’s not tampering because NBA players are allowed to talk to one another (ala Karl Malone & Gary Payton coming to LA in 2003-2004). Things should get interesting tomorrow with Jim Buss coming on for an interview and possibly with the fans. If the Loose Cannons do decide to open up the phone lines to ask questions to Jim Buss, make sure to call in and inquire about Kevin Garnett. Spread the word, spread the love. Let’s as fans do what we can. After all as our motto goes, “for the fans, by the fans.”
P.S., Vic…
FEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELIN’ YOU!
Although we’ve been getting a few comments on how this will never happen and its just a fantasy, I just want to thank everyone who has supported the site in its 2 day existence.
I’ve been looking thought some of the reports on the site and I see a good amount of people who have thrown up a link to this site on their MySpace, forum sigs, etc. A few blogs have posted about us (although pretty much calling us crazy!). But we’re all loyal fans and we want to see changes made. I’m doing this because I hope it can somehow help the Lakers organization but rallying up the fans. The one thing I noticed while at one of the Playoff games this season was that many fans were sitting there wanting to cheer for this team and dieing to see something to cheer for. Unfortunately that really didn’t come.
Its been great seeing Lakers fans support the “KG movement”. I myself am huge Garnett fan, always have been. Seeing him miss the Playoffs now for 3 seasons is painful as a KG fan. If a deal for Garnett doesn’t happen, it wouldn’t upset me VERY much, as long as this team has improved during the off-season. At the end of the day, that all we as fans want.
Anyway, just wanted to thank everyone for the support! Bookmark the site, let it be known… we want Garnett.
P.S. If anyone here has their own blog/site and is interested in exchanging links, please e-mail us with info! GetGarnett@gmail.com.
